- In the early days of spring in the year of the Horse (Bính Ngọ), on the fields of Vân Nham commune, people are taking advantage of favorable weather conditions to strengthen transportation and irrigation infrastructure in conjunction with land preparation and planting.
The central field of Tan Thinh village, which is quite flat and covers an area of about 15 hectares, is located right next to Provincial Road 242. The local people completed plowing and preparing the land immediately after the end of the Lunar New Year holiday of the Year of the Horse.
Mr. Hoang Van Quan, from Tan Thinh village, said: "This field is divided into two areas. The higher agricultural plots are mainly used for spring corn cultivation, while the plots along the Trung River, with convenient irrigation, are used for rice cultivation. My family has 3 sao (approximately 0.3 hectares) of land and has completed the base fertilization, raised beds, and sown high-yield, short-day biomass corn for livestock feed."

According to updated data as of March 2nd, 2026, the people of Tan Thinh village have completed planting spring corn on an area of approximately 7 hectares, and are currently sowing spring rice seedlings.
In Minh Le village, the villagers are enthusiastically launching their spring planting season with the hope of a successful harvest. This spring, Minh Le village is planting 22 hectares, with 80% of the area dedicated to rice and the remainder to corn and tobacco. To date, all 178 households in the village have begun preparing the land and planting spring crops, ensuring they are within the appropriate timeframe.
According to a report from the People's Committee of Van Nham commune, the total area for spring crop production in 2026 in the entire commune is over 343 hectares. The crop structure for this year's winter-spring season has changed significantly. In particular, the area of various vegetable crops has increased sharply to 31 hectares, a 31% increase, and the area of chili peppers has increased by 10% compared to the same period last year.
Regarding production progress, the villages have completed land preparation and planting of corn, tobacco, sweet potatoes, and chili peppers, and are currently focusing on harvesting vegetables. For rice cultivation, the villages have sown enough seedlings for transplanting, covering approximately 90% of the spring crop area. Regarding reforestation, immediately after the Lunar New Year holiday, the villages planted 2.5 hectares of new acacia trees. Additionally, to support farmers in production, the commune has supplied 6.4 tons of QR 15 rice seeds to over 1,200 households.
In addition, the People's Committee of the commune has also directed the villages to mobilize people to participate in road and irrigation work. To date, the villages have mobilized nearly 8,000 man-days to dredge 18.2 km of irrigation canals, clearing waterways to ensure irrigation water for the entire cultivated area. Infrastructure serving agricultural production in the fields has also been strengthened; accordingly, the villages have completed repairs and pothole patching along a total length of 9.7 km.
Mr. Lang Van Chinh, Head of the Economic Department of Van Nham Commune, shared: To ensure the progress of the 2026 spring crop production, the department has advised the Commune People's Committee to effectively implement the supply of seeds, provide technical guidance to people, and supply irrigation water for agricultural production. At the same time, the commune has also requested villages to implement a reforestation plan, guiding households to carry out supplementary planting, care, and restoration of fruit tree areas affected by Typhoon No. 11 last year.
With the decisive involvement of the local government and the proactive spirit and hard work of the people, it is believed that Van Nham commune will have a bountiful spring harvest, contributing to the successful achievement of the commune's socio-economic development goals in 2026.
