Jamie Vardy had his farewell match for Leicester at home. |
On May 18, Vardy scored in the 30th minute to help Leicester beat Ipswich 2-0. This was also the 200th and final goal of the former England striker for Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, amid rumors that the striker will move to Leeds United this summer.
Despite Leicester's struggles at the start of the season, Vardy's Premier League goalscoring record is still remarkable. In the 2024/25 season, the 38-year-old striker scored 9 goals in the Premier League.
Vardy has announced he will leave the King Power Stadium when his contract expires at the end of the 2024/25 season. The Guardian reports Leeds United are close to signing Vardy on a free transfer, after the player expressed his desire to continue playing in the English top flight next season.
Vardy was born in Sheffield, near Leeds, and admits he is "good enough" to play in the Premier League next season. "I always say I'm going to keep playing until my legs say 'enough, stop', but at the moment my legs are fine. I have no doubts about my ability to play in the Premier League," Vardy said.
Stressing his determination to play in the Premier League next season, Vardy added: “I will definitely play in the Premier League next season 100 per cent. But football is a world full of surprises, you never know what will happen.”
