VBA 5x5 opens its 10th season

The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports Department; Mr. Mai Ba Hung - Vice President of the Vietnam Basketball Federation; Ms. Nguyen Thanh Phuong - Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Basketball Joint Stock Company; Mr. Nguyen Hoang Linh - General Director of Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank - MSB; representatives of clubs; press agencies and sponsors and partners.

Opening the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration, said: “ The opening event of the 10th season of the Vietnam Professional Basketball Tournament VBA is an important milestone marking the journey of development with great efforts and innovation of the country's basketball. In 2016, VBA was born as a memorable mark with the first professional sports entertainment model in Vietnam. With a strategic vision and modern operating mechanism, the tournament has quickly attracted the attention of fans and experts nationwide. Over the past 9 years, VBA has not only been an attractive and professional playground for domestic and international athletes, but also a strong catalyst for the development of grassroots basketball, especially among young people. VBA has created the premise for the development and expansion of the basketball ecosystem in Vietnam, promoting the image of basketball through television and becoming a model for professional sports tournaments in the country as well as the region. On behalf of the Vietnam Sports Administration Nam, I acknowledge and commend the contributions of the Vietnam Professional Basketball League, the clubs, coaches, athletes and the tournament management team, who have silently made the success of VBA over the past decade. The 10th season, a milestone season, is an opportunity for us to look back on the past journey and at the same time affirm the aspirations of Vietnamese basketball. I believe that with a solid foundation and determination of the new team, VBA 2025 will continue to create top matches, memorable moments, and strongly inspire the younger generation."

After the flower presentation to thank the sponsors and partners, there was the debut performance of the 6th StarXidol Inspirational Ambassador - singer ISAAC. The male god stirred up the atmosphere with 3 performances: "Mr. Right", "Bong Bong Bang Bang" and "Goi Cho Anh".

Continuing to heat up the show was the debut of international idol group ARKis. In their debut, the 8 talents from Chinese Taipei treated fans to 3 hits “Shoot” and “Under The Future” and the mid-match performance “Apocalypse”.

Finally, the opening match of VBA STAR X between defending champion Saigon Heat and the guest team from the Philippines V Islanders. During the break, the audience was reunited with the girls from the KIRABASE cheerleading squad.

On the next 2 days, May 17, 2025 and May 18, 2025, VBA STAR X continues to compete with 2 exciting matches between Cantho Catfish vs Ho Chi Minh City Wings and Saigon Heat vs V Islanders. Along with this opening match series is the performance of Cuong Seven and the participation of Truong Twins - Truong Thao My and Truong Thao Vy, Luong Xuan Truong, Nguyen Thi Anh Vien.

The VBA STAR X season is organized with the support of Maritime Bank (MSB), aiming to spread the spirit of positive living, creating a generation of healthy, brave and ambitious Vietnamese youth. Through the sport of basketball, MSB hopes to awaken the desire to rise up and affirm self-worth in each young person, based on the foundation of "physically strong - mentally strong".

Within the framework of this year's season, MSB and VBA will implement 5 key activities, including: StarXcamp, StarXpro, StarXshop, StarXsmile and StarXmusic. These activities are not only sports - entertainment but also integrateeducational , financial, and social responsibility factors. MSB representative shared: "We believe that sports, especially basketball, can become an important catalyst in improving the quality of life, thereby building a sustainable future. As a strategic partner of VBA in general and VBA STAR X in particular, MSB hopes to motivate and encourage the generation of Vietnamese youth to reach out strongly in the journey of nurturing health - knowledge and spirit, towards a promising future".
