In the group stage of the 3-cushion carom billiards World Cup, the Egyptian round, Tran Thanh Luc competed in Group D with Dick Jaspers (Netherlands, No. 3 in the world), Heo Jung Hang (Korea, No. 14 in the world). and Omer Karakurt (Türkiye).
When facing Dick Jaspers on December 7, Tran Thanh Luc had an excellent match. After leading 12-23 in the first half, Tran Thanh Luc allowed his opponent to close the gap to 10-1 in the second half.
