Against the sky still tinged with the gray of the late night, fishing boats lined up to dock, carrying fresh seafood just caught from the open sea.

Every morning at the port is a vibrant symphony of life, where the breath of the ocean blends with the hard work of coastal people.

Located right at the estuary, bordering the poetic Ca Ty River, Phan Thiet fishing port is not only a safe anchorage for hundreds of boats after their trips at sea, but also one of the most famous fish markets in the South Central Coast region.

At around 5am, at Phan Thiet port, the sound of fishing boats' engines, the laughter of fishermen, the calls of traders to each other mixed with the sound of water lapping against the boat's side created a bustling scene that never stopped.

Ships covered in salty dust after a night at sea docked one by one, quietly but hurriedly.

The strong arms of men accustomed to the wind and waves quickly pulled baskets of fish, barrels of squid, and baskets of crabs ashore.

The scene of "on the wharf and under the boat" is rhythmic like a chain that has been practiced for generations.

Baskets of seafood, including mackerel, tuna, anchovies, squid, and shrimp, are quickly unloaded and immediately transferred to the wholesale market next to the port. Each type of seafood is classified, weighed, and sold bustlingly amid the shrill calls of the vendors and the careful eyes of the traders.

At the port, vendors wearing conical hats, carrying large plastic baskets, and wearing rubber boots wade through puddles of salty water, quickly buying goods, bargaining, and choosing the freshest fish and squid that still glisten silver in the early morning sunlight.

The atmosphere at the fish market is like a daily festival – noisy, lively but orderly.

In one corner of the harbor, other fishermen were preparing for another trip. Some were checking their nets, others were mending ones torn after a long night of fishing. A group was tying ice, food, and fuel to their boats.

Although the weather was still chilly, sweat was already beading on their foreheads. But everyone had a hopeful look on their faces, because the sea not only gave them a source of life but also the belief that one day they would have plenty.

Arriving at Phan Thiet fishing port, it is easy to notice the slight fishy smell of sea fish, the pungent smell of engine oil mixed with the aroma of street-side filter coffee, creating a very unique flavor of Phan Thiet - a smell that can only be found in places that have long been attached to the sea.

Phan Thiet fishing port is not only a place for exchanging goods, but also a unique cultural space of fishermen in the South Central Coast.

The lively gossip, the crisp laughter, the advice between fishermen – all create a vivid, authentic and everyday picture.

Here, every morning is a lively song, opening a day of enthusiastic work.

The sun gradually rose high, dyeing the fishing wharf golden. The boats quietly parted the waves to the open sea, with the farewells and the watchful eyes of those who stayed behind.

The cycle of livelihood continues, simple, persistent but full of vitality. Phan Thiet - where the sea is not only the sea, but also the life, the flesh and blood of many generations of people here.

And in the hustle and bustle of the morning at the fishing port, people understand that the ocean is not only generous, but also a place that nourishes the soul, preserves the values of hard work and the salty humanity at the forefront.
