Every morning at the harbor is a vibrant symphony of life, where the rhythm of the sea blends with the industriousness of the people of the coastal region.

Located right at the mouth of the sea, bordering the picturesque Ca Ty River, Phan Thiet fishing port is not only a safe anchorage for hundreds of boats after their voyages at sea, but also one of the most famous fish markets in the South Central coastal region.

Around 5 a.m., on the Phan Thiet harbor, the sound of fishing boat engines, the lively laughter and chatter of fishermen, the shouts of traders, and the lapping of water against the boats create a bustling, never-ending scene.

A bustling scene at Phan Thiet fishing port.

The ships, covered in salty dust after a night at sea, docked one by one, silently but hurriedly.

The strong arms of these men, accustomed to the rough seas, swiftly pulled baskets of fish, barrels of squid, and crates of crabs ashore.

The scene of boats and ships moving about on the docks flows smoothly like an assembly line, a skill that has been perfected for generations.

Baskets overflowing with seafood—mackerel, tuna, anchovies, squid, and shrimp—are quickly unloaded and immediately transported to the wholesale market near the port. Each type of seafood is sorted, weighed, and sold amidst the lively calls of vendors and the careful, discerning eyes of the buyers.

On the docks, small traders, wearing conical hats and carrying large plastic baskets, wade through puddles of salty water, busily buying goods, haggling, and selecting the freshest fish and squid that glisten with a silvery sheen in the early morning sun.

The atmosphere at the fish market is like a daily festival – noisy, lively, yet orderly.

In one corner of the harbor, other fishermen were preparing for a new fishing trip. Some were checking their nets, others were mending torn nets after a long night of fishing. A group of people were tying ice, food, and fuel onto their boats.

Although the weather was still chilly, beads of sweat dotted their foreheads. But everyone wore a hopeful expression, because the sea not only provided them with a livelihood but also offered them faith in a future of abundance.
