During a training session in preparation for the quarter-final match against Ninh Binh in the 2024/25 National Cup, Bui Vi Hao suffered an ankle injury after a dribbling maneuver. Doctors diagnosed Vi Hao with an ankle sprain, but he needed to wait for the swelling to subside and the fluid to clear before an X-ray could be taken. On March 31st, the Vietnamese national team striker underwent an MRI in Ho Chi Minh City. The results revealed a more serious injury than initially anticipated: a torn ankle ligament.
With this injury, Vi Hao will have to undergo surgery in the next few days. After that, the Binh Duong FC striker will have to rest for 6-8 months before he can recover.
Therefore, Vi Hao will have to leave Binh Duong Club early in the 2024/25 season, miss the Vietnam national team's match against Malaysia in June, be unable to participate in the U23 Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers in September, and risk missing the SEA Games 33 held in Thailand later this year.
Meanwhile, after undergoing examinations in Pleiku, center-back Ly Duc was diagnosed with no serious injury. He only suffered a grade 2 ligament sprain. The 1.82m tall defender needs at least 3 weeks of rest before he can recover and return to training.
Therefore, Ly Duc will have to miss 3-4 matches for HAGL in the second half of the V-League season. If he recovers in time, Ly Duc may still be called up by coach Kim Sang Sik to the U22 team or the Vietnam national team for the training camp at the end of May.
