At the close of trading, the VN-Index rose more than 5 points to 1,860 points. In contrast, the HNX-Index fell nearly 5 points to 313.16 points.
The market was generally balanced, with 340 stocks rising and nearly 310 falling. Positive sentiment continued across key sectors such as finance, industry, and real estate, helping the main index maintain its upward momentum.
Notably, Vingroup's group of stocks became a key driver in the final minutes of the trading session. VIC, VHM, and VRE all reversed course and rose by over 1%, pulling the VN-Index to close in positive territory.
Conversely, the essential consumer goods sector faced significant downward pressure. Stocks such as VNM, KDC, SBT, NAF, ANV, VHC, and TCO all declined, while MSN closed at its reference price.
The energy sector, primarily oil and gas stocks, also performed poorly, with a series of stocks declining, including BSR , PVS, PVT, PLX, PVP, and PPT.
In the financial sector, although green remained the dominant color, some bank stocks recorded less favorable performance, withSHB , VPB, TCB, STB, LPB, and VIB all experiencing slight declines.
In terms of liquidity, negotiated transactions reached over 6,000 billion VND, accounting for nearly one-third of the total market transaction value of approximately 20,000 billion VND, indicating that large amounts of capital are still participating in the market.
Meanwhile, foreign investors continued to exert pressure by net selling nearly 1,200 billion VND across the market. VPB was the most heavily net-sold stock, with a value of approximately 340 billion VND. In addition, many other large-cap stocks such as FPT, VNM, and HPG also recorded net selling values ranging from 186-195 billion VND.
The developments on June 30th showed that the market still lacked momentum for a breakout, with capital flows diverging among different stock groups. Although the pull from large-cap stocks, especially Vingroup, helped the VN-Index maintain its upward trend, net selling pressure from foreign investors and weakness in some sectors remain factors that investors need to monitor in the upcoming trading sessions.
