One of the highlights was the beginner-level promotion exam at the Quan Am Dong Hai Pagoda Vovinam Club (Vinh Hai commune), held on May 2nd, with 61 students participating. Here, the students entered the exam with high concentration, performing martial arts principles, strength, and techniques systematically. Despite limited facilities compared to clubs in the city center, the serious and confident training spirit of the students showed that the movement here is developing strongly.
Around the same time, at the Vovinam Club of Vinh Hiep Secondary School ( Khanh Hoa Ward), the elementary level promotion exam attracted 83 martial arts students. Previously, many similar exams were also held in Tan Hoa and Phung Hiep communes, contributing to the creation of a continuously operating and synchronized Vovinam network.
According to martial arts master Vo Huu Ly, President of the Vovinam - Viet Vo Dao Federation of Can Tho City, the Vovinam movement has seen positive development thanks to the involvement of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City and the city's Vovinam - Viet Vo Dao Federation. After the administrative boundary consolidation, the Federation promptly guided clubs on establishment criteria, competition regulations, and development orientation. Master Vo Huu Ly stated: "Local authorities strongly agree with the Federation's approach. As a result, clubs operate more systematically and in accordance with regulations, building trust with parents and the public. The movement has therefore developed well and spread strongly, especially in the areas previously known as Soc Trang and Hau Giang."
Beyond providing professional support, the Federation also pays attention to the training conditions of the clubs. Many units in the former Soc Trang area have been provided with tatami mats, helping to ensure the safety of martial arts students. In addition, examiners and referees have been sent to support examinations and tournaments at the grassroots level, especially during the commune and ward-level Sports Festivals. The support of relevant authorities and the sense of responsibility of martial arts masters and coaches have created a crucial impetus for the development of Vovinam. From initially sparsely attended classes, many localities have now established stable clubs, attracting a large number of students.
In the coming period, the Can Tho City Vovinam - Viet Vo Dao Federation plans to coordinate with clubs to organize many professional and referee training courses. One such course, scheduled to be held at the Vovinam Club of Quan Am Dong Hai Pagoda (Vinh Hai commune), is expected to attract 90-100 coaches and instructors from over 30 clubs. Expanding training and improving professional skills is a necessary step to strengthen the foundation of the movement and ensure balanced development across all areas of the city.
From shining examples like the Vovinam Club at Quan Am Dong Hai Pagoda, it's clear that Vovinam is not just about sports training, but is becoming an integral part of the cultural and spiritual life of the people, contributing to the development of physical fitness, willpower, and character in the younger generation.
