With an impressive academic record, valedictorian Tran Thi Thu Hien (from Can Loc, Ha Tinh province ) won numerous scholarships thanks to her near-perfect GPA of 3.99/4.0 after 3.5 years of study.
Having developed a love and passion for Economics and Languages since high school, Tran Thi Thu Hien (from Dong Loc town, Can Loc district, Ha Tinh province) decided to choose the Foreign Trade University as the place to pursue her dreams.
Having been accepted into her first-choice program, International Economics, with 27.25 points in the A1 group (Mathematics, Physics, English), Hien aims to study diligently and seriously to graduate early.
After 3.5 years of study, Thu Hien reaped many rewards, most notably graduating as the valedictorian with a GPA of 3.99/4.0. She was also one of 96 valedictorians honored by the Hanoi People's Committee in 2023.

During her 3.5 years of study at the Foreign Trade University, Hien won scholarships in every semester. In addition, she received numerous scholarships sponsored by various organizations, institutions, and businesses.
Sharing her secrets to "hunting" for scholarships, Hien said it's necessary to understand and be familiar with the scholarship criteria. At the Foreign Trade University, scholarships are awarded based on two criteria: academic scores on a 10-point scale and extracurricular activity scores. Therefore, to get a scholarship, Hien needed outstanding results in her studies as well as extracurricular activities.
In her studies, Hien always showed meticulousness and seriousness towards each subject, from preparing for class beforehand, listening to lectures and interacting with lecturers and classmates, to organizing her study time before the end-of-semester exams. As a result, Hien's academic performance was always among the top in her class.
Hien regularly participates in school activities, clubs, volunteer work, and scientific research... These are the secrets that helped the female student win all the scholarships at the school.
During her studies and extracurricular activities, Hien had many happy and sad memories. Due to her inexperience and lack of familiarity, she didn't perform her role well the first time she was entrusted with organizing an event for the club.
Nevertheless, the female student learned a lot about event organizing skills, problem-solving, and enhancing her sense of responsibility for the role she took on. From that, Hien realized that failure is not so scary; what is scary is not daring to try what you want to do.
Hien also actively participates in competitions and scientific research activities. Thanks to this, Hien finds like-minded friends who help her go further.
Through her close friendship with a club member, the female student from Ha Tinh found a partner to participate in a scientific research competition, winning a school-level award and having numerous articles published in domestic and international journals.

Despite her successes, the female student also faced many failures. “In many activities and competitions, I sometimes didn't do well. From those experiences, I can learn and grow. Therefore, I also want to tell young people to dare to think, dare to act, and we will have many valuable experiences,” Hien confided.
Early on, Hien realized the need for practical experience, so she took advantage of opportunities to learn and interact with work environments relevant to her field of study. As a result, she achieved high results during her internship at the Customs Declaration department of a Japanese logistics company.
Later, Hien was hired by an American logistics company with a branch in Vietnam, even though she hadn't yet graduated from university. To be accepted, Hien had to go through many rounds of selection and interviews with hundreds of other candidates. "In the end, I was the only one who got the job," the student said.
The female student said she would continue to improve and perfect herself every day to become a useful member of society. "In the current context of globalization, integration, and digital transformation, I will focus on improving my foreign language skills and technological knowledge and skills to make effective and practical contributions to the country," Hien shared.
