With the support of the Administrative Management and Social Order Police Department of Can Tho City Police, the City Social Work Center has just completed the issuance of identity cards for 37 children with special needs who are cared for and nurtured at the Center. After receiving their identity cards, the children will have more convenience in civil transactions, access to basic social services, and have their civil rights, welfare, and social justice ensured. At the same time, this activity helps the Center alleviate some of the difficulties in managing and caring for these children.

In celebration of International Children's Day on June 1st, the Center organized a two-day weekend trip to Ba Ria - Vung Tau province for over 20 children. The children enjoyed meals, played games, participated in group activities, and visited several scenic spots. This is an annual activity of the Center, aimed at providing children with opportunities to experience real-life situations, broaden their knowledge and perspectives, foster optimism, and strengthen team spirit and camaraderie.

In April and May 2025, the Center's Counseling Room organized two thematic sessions on life skills education , focusing on: active listening and positive feedback skills; and the right to protection and love for children with special needs. Through video clips and images summarizing specific stories and situations, the children discussed and provided feedback on attitudes, behaviors, and gestures that demonstrate appropriate and respectful communication and behavior in daily life. The children learned about and practiced common rules of conduct and how to communicate and interact with others.

Besides coordinating the introduction of students in need of vocational training, the therapeutic work model of making picture frames at the Center is maintained, with 8 students currently participating. From 2023 to the present, they have made over 23,350 picture frames. Huynh Huu Thuan shared: “We have been learning and making picture frames for over 3 years, allocating our work time wisely, prioritizing our studies. Through this work, I have developed diligence, meticulousness, teamwork spirit, and responsibility.”

Annually, the Counseling Department of the City Social Work Center collaborates in developing and implementing a model plan for "Life Skills Education and Career Guidance for Children with Disabilities at the Center," focusing on activities such as: life skills education for children; visits and experiences at eco-tourism areas; career counseling and vocational training. In 2024, the Center organized thematic sessions on life skills education covering public etiquette, traffic safety, daily living skills, health care, teamwork, self-control, self-management, self-care, self-protection, personal information management, time management, etc., helping children acquire knowledge, develop basic skills, and create a healthy learning and playing environment. The Center also emphasizes connecting and organizing tourism, excursions, and practical experiences; group activities and cultural performances during holidays and festivals.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Van, Deputy Director of the City's Social Work Center, in 2025, the Center will implement a model of "Life Skills Education and Career Guidance for Children with Special Needs" with diverse forms and practical content. Regarding content, the Center will research and design integrated themes tailored to each age group to supplement and enhance children's skills, such as: active listening and positive response, emotional management, conflict resolution, and prevention of psychological trauma. The Center will utilize technology and visual aids to organize group activities and communication (videos, slides, pictures). Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Van shared: “The center focuses on in-depth life skills education, tailored to each child's age, combining practical application with real-world experience. The center organizes vocational training and career guidance based on each child's abilities and interests, at appropriate times, and provides practical career experience. Through this, we help children improve their physical and mental health, develop positively and healthily in a loving 'common home,' and strive to become useful citizens for the country in the future.”
