Raising goats for commercial purposes has provided a stable income for the family of Ms. Phan Thi Tuyet, residing in the Dong Tam resettlement area, Yen Lap village, Yen Thanh commune.

After 37 households relocated to their new homes, the Yen Thanh commune government, along with various organizations and associations, focused on supporting the people in developing their livelihoods and gradually restoring their economy . The residents received support in the form of livestock and access to preferential loans to rebuild their lives. Thanks to this support, many households proactively sought suitable development paths and strived to improve their lives through labor and production.

Ms. Phan Thi Tuyet's family is one of the exemplary households. A landslide buried their entire fish pond and garden, leaving them almost penniless. To rebuild, she registered to participate in a commercial goat farming project implemented by the commune government; she also planted peanuts and rice to ensure food security and generate additional income. Her two children work in industrial zones in Hanoi , contributing to the family's income. Thanks to the efforts of all family members, after one year, Ms. Tuyet's family proactively registered to escape poverty.

With a bright smile, Ms. Phan Thi Tuyet shared: “With income from livestock farming, crop cultivation, and money sent home by my children, our family life is now stable, and we no longer have to worry about food or clothing shortages. I want to be removed from the list of poor households to prove that I am capable of rising up on my own and no longer depend on government support.”

Vang Seo Su's family consists of eight members, including three who are in critical condition and unable to work. Although the landslide did not cause any property damage, due to being located in a dangerous area, his family had to be urgently relocated to a new place. In the resettlement area, to quickly create a stable income, his three children went to work in industrial zones in Hanoi. He and his wife stayed at home to develop agriculture . Thanks to the hard work and efforts of the family members, their lives have become increasingly stable. As a result, Mr. Su proactively requested to be removed from the list of impoverished households.

Mr. Vang Seo Su shared: “Compared to the other 36 households, my family did not suffer any property damage and can still provide for our own food and clothing. Therefore, I would like to be removed from the list of poor households to give the government's support to those households that are more disadvantaged.”

The Dong Tam resettlement area has 25 poor and near-poor households. Thanks to the timely attention and support of the local government, socio-political organizations, and the proactive spirit of the people, life here is gradually improving. To date, 16 households have proactively registered and met the criteria to escape poverty. This is a positive sign, clearly demonstrating the will to improve the lives of people in landslide-prone areas, and affirming the effectiveness of social welfare policies and sustainable poverty reduction programs in the locality.

Comrade Hoang Ngoc Khanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Thanh commune, said: "The commune government always accompanies and creates conditions for people in the resettlement area to stabilize production and gradually increase their income. The fact that 16 households proactively registered to escape poverty is an encouraging result, demonstrating a spirit of self-reliance and not depending on support. In the coming time, the commune will continue to support households in developing livelihoods, aiming for sustainable poverty reduction."
