Help disadvantaged women gain confidence
One of the clear evidences of the effectiveness of TYM's financial policy is the story of overcoming difficulties and rising up of Ms. Nguyen Thi Duc Hanh (born in 1979), a TYM customer in cluster 46, zone 1, Vu Ninh ward. As a single, disabled woman, Ms. Hanh's life used to be full of difficulties. Orphaned at a young age, at the age of 20, she suffered from arthritis, leading to paralysis of both legs. Her deadlocked life often made her depressed. Her family and relatives supported her to open a small grocery store.
In 2014, the turning point came when she was introduced to TYM and accessed the first loan worth 10 million VND - a small but meaningful amount, helping her to supplement capital to import more goods. From the first capital rounds, regularly 10, then 15, 30 million VND over the years, Ms. Hanh gradually expanded the business scale, added many new products, and renovated the store. Income improved significantly, she had the conditions to equip more essential living items, serve her personal needs and make it more convenient for her business.

Also in difficult circumstances, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lanh (Hap Linh ward) is always self-conscious because she is disabled and has difficulty moving around. However, her life has changed since she accessed policy capital from TYM in 2022. After just over two years, with three rounds of loans totaling 65 million VND, Ms. Lanh invested in buying industrial sewing machines, overlock machines, and fabric materials to receive sewing orders at home. Thanks to her diligence, dexterity, and initiative to learn, she has a stable income of about 8 million VND per month on average. Not only is she proactive in her living expenses, she also accumulates regularly through savings at TYM. Ms. Lanh shared: “Before, I didn’t think I could take care of myself. Thanks to TYM, I can borrow and pay back regularly without too much pressure. The most valuable thing is that I no longer feel helpless like before, but feel useful and can take control of my life. TYM has helped me live more confidently every day.”
Not only accompanying members in economic development, TYM also pays special attention to social security work, sharing difficulties with women in difficult circumstances. One of the humanitarian activities is supporting the construction of "Warm Houses of Love". Ms. Dang Thi Nu, Vinh Thinh village (Lang Giang commune) is a typical case. As a single woman, she has to take care of her sick mother and two young children, all the economic burden falls on her shoulders. For many years, her family has lived in an old house of more than 30m2 that has seriously degraded. Understanding that situation, in 2025, TYM Bac Giang Branch coordinated with local authorities to survey and support funding to build a solid "Warm House of Love". The project started in March 2025. After more than two months of construction, with the support of local authorities, associations, and support from relatives and neighbors, the house with an area of about 80 m2 was completed with a total value of 400 million VND. Of which, TYM Bac Giang Branch supported 60 million VND.
Spreading human values
From the meaningful, everyday stories of Ms. Hanh, Ms. Lanh or Ms. Nu, we can see the value that TYM brings to women in Bac Ninh. Whether they are disadvantaged, disabled, or members facing economic difficulties, they find in TYM a solid support to overcome their circumstances. Along with credit, TYM also implements many practical non-financial policies such as training in financial management skills, business skills, helping women, even with low starting points, to be proactive in running their business; programs to support the construction and repair of houses for poor women's families, giving scholarships to children of poor, studious customers; timely visits when customers encounter risks or are sick, and many other charity programs.
In Bac Ninh, TYM has Bac Giang Branch and Bac Ninh Branch. The whole province has 47/99 communes and wards where TYM is operating with 16,912 customers; the access rate is 47.5%. Outstanding loan capital is 213 billion VND. Savings balance is 137 billion VND. |
For poor, single, disabled, seriously ill or extremely disadvantaged women, TYM implements its own policy capital. These policies not only help disadvantaged women overcome immediate difficulties, but more importantly, enhance their confidence, motivate them to gradually rise up, take control of their lives and escape poverty sustainably.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Uyen, Director of TYM Bac Ninh Branch said: “Since its establishment, TYM has determined its mission to accompany and support low-income individuals and families, especially giving priority to poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged women in accessing financial services in a safe, sustainable and humane manner. In addition, many non-financial support programs have also been implemented synchronously, aiming to improve capacity, equip knowledge of financial management, help customers use capital effectively and improve their lives”.
