Rising floodwaters have submerged all the fields in the commune, causing significant damage to many areas of perennial crops.

According to preliminary statistics, the entire commune has 191 hectares of coffee plantations; 8.6 hectares of vegetables and flowers; 7.4 hectares of ponds and lakes; 750 durian trees, and 4,000 betel nut trees… that were flooded.

Over 43 km of roads in the area were flooded, with many sections severely eroded and damaged. Local authorities organized a 24/7 emergency response force; placed warning signs and ropes in areas at risk of landslides, weak bridges, and deeply flooded road sections; and disseminated information and guidance to people to avoid crossing rivers, streams, and low-lying areas during floods.

However, some people still use fishing boats; one person in Thanh Son village went missing after their boat capsized. Authorities have made efforts to search for him, but he has not been found yet.

Local authorities have focused on providing initial support, helping people find safe shelter and avoid hunger and cold during the floods. However, after the water recedes, restoring life and production will face many difficulties. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune is mobilizing support resources to help people reinforce and repair their homes after the floods; disinfect and sterilize, and mitigate damage to crops and livestock…
