Fortunately, the La Lay International Border Guard Station, Quang Tri Province Border Guard supported my family with a pair of breeding goats to develop the economy . Up to now, the herd of goats has grown to more than ten, growing well and becoming the main source of income for the family."

La Lay International Border Guard Station mobilized and coordinated to build a clean water project to give to the people of La Lay commune, Quang Tri province.

La Lay International Border Guard Station is assigned to manage and protect the border in La Lay commune, where there are 16 villages with 3 ethnic groups: Van Kieu, Pa Co and Kinh living; of which, more than 85% are Pa Co people. This is a poor mountainous commune, people's lives are still difficult, mainly depending on slash-and-burn farming. The rate of poor and near-poor households is still high, unemployment, housing and water shortages are still common.

In order to help people eliminate hunger, reduce poverty, and feel secure in their homeland, in recent times, La Lay International Border Guard Station has mobilized and coordinated the implementation of many effective economic models, contributing to the development of the local economy and joining hands to build new rural areas. Notably, the "Startup breeding goat" model has been deployed since 2018, with funding contributed by officers and soldiers of the Station and from increased production sources. Initially, the unit supported 2 households, each with a pair of breeding goats worth about 4.5 million VND. To date, the model has grown to 7 participating households, with a total herd of nearly 130 goats; each household is estimated to earn an additional income of about 20 million VND/year.

In October 2024, the unit continued to implement the "Rotary Pig Village" model, giving 3 pairs of breeding pigs to 3 households raising pigs for breeding with funding from socialized sources and contributions from officers and soldiers of the unit. Up to now, all 3 households have developed their herds well. Ms. Ho Thi The, Party Cell Secretary, Head of A Luong Village, La Lay Commune, excitedly said: "My family received support from the Border Guard with a pair of breeding pigs for raising in captivity, and at the same time, they gave me enthusiastic instructions on breeding techniques. Up to now, the herd of pigs has grown to 6, promising to bring in income and create a methodical barn model for people in the village to learn."

Along with economic development models, from 2022 to now, La Lay International Border Guard Station has also organized many social security programs to care for the lives of people such as: "Spring Border Guard warms the hearts of the villagers", "National Border Guard Festival"... The unit has built 15 clean water projects to give to villages and hamlets; examined, treated, and provided free medicine to more than 800 people. At the same time, the Station actively mobilized organizations, individuals, and volunteer groups to donate thousands of gifts (including warm clothes, banh chung, rice, MSG, cooking oil, candy...) with a total value of more than 1.6 billion VND.

Village elder Ho Van Mon, in La Lay village, shared: “The ethnic people of La Lay commune have great trust in the Border Guard. They are the support for the villagers to overcome difficulties and build a prosperous life.”
