Market diversification

The export market for dried tea is wide open for tea producers in the province. In addition to the Middle East market, Tuyen Quang tea has reached markets in Europe, North America, and Asia.

Mr. Ngo Duc Tu, Director of Song Lo Tea Joint Stock Company, said: In 2024, the company exported more than 4,700 tons of various types of green and black tea. The export value is estimated at nearly 8 million USD, exceeding the plan by more than 70%. In January 2025 alone, the company exported 400 tons. To ensure stable exports, the company maintains traditional customers in countries such as the Middle East, India, Pakistan, Russia, and the Netherlands, while also seeking new markets in ASEAN countries and Taiwan (China). Currently, the company has been granted a planting area code, which facilitates exports to new markets. At the same time, the company is actively investing in improving production equipment and product design to enhance product quality.

Korea Bag Co., Ltd. manufactures packaging for export at Phuc Ung Industrial Cluster (Son Duong).

The good news is that since the beginning of the year, the number of orders for wood, textile, and footwear products from key export markets has increased, which is a positive sign that the province's export activities can reach their targets. However, this is conditional on the goods meeting the requirements of the export markets.

Operating for nearly 10 years with 3 factories producing indoor and outdoor furniture and industrial wood panels for export, Woodsland Tuyen Quang Joint Stock Company has a stable export market to the US and Europe. In 2024, revenue reached VND 1,600 billion, a 23% increase compared to 2023, and contributed over VND 60 billion to the state budget.

Mr. Le Quang Khanh, Director of Woodsland Tuyen Quang Joint Stock Company, informed: Major export markets are strengthening the enforcement of import regulations as an important technical barrier for many product groups from exporting countries. For example, European Union (EU) countries have required the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), effective from October 2023. Accordingly, goods imported into the EU market will have to bear additional costs and switch to less emission-producing production models to obtain carbon credits. Adapting to the export market, the company has continuously changed product designs according to each partner's order requirements, and constantly innovated technology to better meet quality standards. This requires employees to change their production mindset to keep up with the work, but in return, orders have increased. To date, the company has orders booked until the end of 2025, and expects to achieve its revenue target of 2,000 billion VND.

In 2024, Tuyen Quang Mechanical Joint Stock Company recovered its production thanks to market diversification, with revenue increasing by 20% compared to 2023. Currently, the company has orders booked until the end of the first quarter of 2025. In 2025, the company aims for a revenue of 90 billion VND. Mr. Tran Trong Thuy, Deputy Director of Tuyen Quang Mechanical Joint Stock Company, shared that each market has different tastes and characteristics. In previous years, the company's oil-treated wood panels and flooring were only exported to China, but now that China no longer imports them, the company has to find ways to link with other units to form a production chain for export to major markets such as the US and Europe.

Increase quality

Along with diversifying export markets, businesses are focusing on improving product quality to ensure they best meet market demands.

Sao Viet Tuyen Quang Co., Ltd. has 3 production plants and 36 business and raw material procurement points. Ms. Cao Cam Tu, Deputy Director of Sao Viet Tuyen Quang Co., Ltd., affirmed: Improving product quality, especially export products, is a continuous effort by the company every quarter and every year. Producing goods that the market needs with superior product quality is the company's business motto and also the condition for the company to have stable orders in recent times. The company has invested in building a plywood factory with a modern automated production line with a total investment of over 100 billion VND. The application of automation in production will help the factory improve productivity, increase output, create finished products with high accuracy, the lowest error rate, save production costs, and lower product prices to serve the domestic and export markets.

The Erex Sakura Tuyen Quang Biomass Fuel Plant project, built on a 3.3-hectare area in the Long Binh An Industrial Park, has recently commenced production. The plant has a designed production capacity of 150,000 tons of biomass pellets and 150,000 tons of wood chips per year, with a total investment of over VND 478.8 billion (equivalent to over USD 20.4 million). Mr. Honna Hitoshi, Chairman and General Director of Erex Corporation, stated: The plant is currently conducting trial runs of high-quality wood pellets. These pellets will be widely used in various fields such as fuel for thermal power plants, heating systems, industrial incineration equipment, sauna systems, and animal feed drying. This project will lead the trend of green production, applying a circular economy model to ensure products meet the greening requirements of the market and customers.

While existing industrial projects have achieved stable production, several new, high - value industrial projects are expected to commence production in 2024, such as: the investment project for the production and business of PP container packaging in Son Nam Industrial Park by Sung Lim ViNa Co., Ltd.; and the flooring factory project in Thang Quan Industrial Cluster, Yen Son district, by Future Ghi Singapore… These projects are also striving to increase production, with expectations for a more prosperous 2025.

Comrade Loc Kim Lien, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, affirmed: To promote production and export activities in the province, in the coming time, the Department of Industry and Trade of Tuyen Quang will continue to review and understand the difficulties and obstacles of businesses, proposing and recommending to the Provincial People's Committee and relevant ministries and agencies to take timely measures to resolve them. It will promptly inform businesses about new mechanisms and policies; proactively guide and support businesses in directly contacting competent State agencies to promptly resolve issues related to production, business, investment, and labor resources. At the same time, the Industry and Trade sector is focusing on implementing the Project "Developing the export market for key agricultural products of Tuyen Quang province in the period 2020 - 2025, with orientation to 2030"; continue to promote trade and export activities; strengthen the provision of market information and improve the capacity to implement trade promotion activities on digital platforms for businesses…

With the proactive efforts of businesses and the involvement of various sectors in the province, it is expected that the export plan for 2025 will be achieved.
