In an online discussion on October 23, US billionaire Elon Musk warned that conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine "could escalate into World War 10".
Therefore, he called on the US to improve relations with Russia and convince Ukraine to join a ceasefire with Moscow. “We need to achieve peace in Ukraine and I think we need to restore normal relations with Russia,” he said.
Mr. Musk said that US policy has been forcing Russia to "become allies with Iran and China" and that relationship could be detrimental to the West in a global conflict.
According to Mr. Musk, a fierce confrontation with China and Russia will not benefit the United States, because Russia with its abundant raw material resources and China with its strong industrial potential "are a formidable combination." .
Mr. Musk proposed that US policy should be to "avoid World War 3" and prevent a situation where "regional conflicts quickly become global conflicts".
Mr. Musk said that the war between Moscow and Kiev is in a deadlock and the US needs to find a way to restore peace to Ukraine.
Mr. Musk commented that there appeared to be no anti-Russian uprisings in the "Russian-speaking regions of Ukraine" controlled by Moscow. He hinted that the current lines of control between the two sides could be converted into "ceasefire boundaries or permanent boundaries".
Mr. Musk believes that "a ceasefire is possible because it makes no sense to force regions that are said to belong to Russia to become part of Ukraine." He commented that (the people of) Eastern Ukraine and Crimea seem to "really want to become part of Russia".
The American billionaire does not understand why soldiers from both countries die every day. According to him, Russia will not withdraw from the territories they control and it will be difficult for Ukraine to successfully counterattack with a smaller army, so a ceasefire is the "best option for the Ukrainian people".

Mykhailo Podoliak, Advisor to the Chief of Staff of the President of Ukraine, believes that the world's refusal to support Ukraine will not end hostilities with Russia, but will cause conflicts around the world and will be the end of international law, leading to the collapse of the international economy.
According to Mr. Podoliak, Mr. Musk made a "serious mistake" in believing that if Ukraine made concessions to Russia, it would end the war and Kiev would achieve lasting peace.
Ukrainian officials said that if Kiev cedes territory, this would lead to a series of unfavorable scenarios when international rules are not followed and could lead to wars on other continents where American citizens will have to participate.
Russia has not commented on Mr. Musk's statements.
