Upon receiving information about the request for assistance in assessing brain-dead patients and supporting organ donation and transplantation surgeries from Nghe An Friendship General Hospital, Dr. Duong Duc Hung, Director of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, immediately organized professional guidance and planned to send a team of experts to provide support. The resuscitation and brain-dead assessment team departed for Nghe An shortly thereafter.
After more than eight hours of intense surgery, the high-tech operation went smoothly. With the collaboration of many specialized units, this was the first multi-organ transplant of heart and liver ever performed in Vietnam, ushering in a new era for organ transplantation in the country.
