On March 17, 2016, musician Tran Lap passed away from rectal cancer at the age of 42. The passing of the author of timeless songs such as " The Road to Glory," "Glass Rose," and "Soul of Stone" shocked and saddened millions of fans.

For many Vietnamese music lovers, Tran Lap was more than just an artist. He was an icon associated with a special period in Vietnamese music – a time when rock music began to be more widely discussed, and also a time when the positive, energetic songs of Buc Tuong (The Wall) resonated everywhere, inspiring many generations.

Along with Bức Tường, Trần Lập chose his own path – composing songs in Vietnamese, at a time when foreign rock music was still considered the "standard." Overcoming skepticism and doubt, he and his band left behind more than 50 beloved songs, many of which have stood the test of time.

Tran Lap's lyrics are not tinged with melancholy or sentimental sadness. Instead, they convey messages for young people: dare to face life and love with a positive spirit. They contain both the grittiness of life and the unique innocence and freedom of youth.

Ten years after Tran Lap's passing, his legacy remains almost entirely intact. Hits like "The Road to Glory," "Soul of Stone," "Glass Rose," and " Discovery " are still performed on stage, in television programs, at gatherings with friends, and on online music platforms. What's remarkable is that not only do fans who grew up with the band Buc Tuong continue to listen to these songs, but many young people – even those born after the songs were released – also find resonance in them.

I want my children, even my grandchildren, to hear music like this”; “The lyrics of 'The Road to Glory,' 'Soul of Stone'… motivated me to overcome the difficult days of high school. For me, the musician lives on forever. Bức Tường will always be a great love ” - these are the comments shared by viewers on Bức Tường's videos .
