2024 marks a new journey full of challenges and opportunities for THACO . With strategic vision, innovation, and relentless effort, THACO has gradually transformed itself, not only consolidating its position as a leading enterprise but also making its mark on the path to sustainable development. Let's review 10 outstanding events of THACO in 2024.
1. THACO contributes to realizing the Quang Nam provincial planning for the period 2021-2030.
On March 16th, at the Conference announcing the Quang Nam Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, the leaders of Quang Nam province awarded investment registration certificates to 7 industrial projects of THACO with a total investment of over 3,940 billion VND, including: THACO High-End Automotive Glass Manufacturing Plant; Passenger Car Wiring Harness Manufacturing Plant; Passenger Car Interior Manufacturing Plant; Passenger Car Seat Manufacturing Plant; Automotive Body and Frame Component Manufacturing Plant; Refrigeration and Electrical Engineering Plant; and THACO INDUSTRIES R&D Center.
In addition, Quang Nam province also issued a decision approving the investment plan for the expansion and upgrading of Chu Lai port, located in the Tam Hiep port area, with a total investment of nearly 1,590 billion VND.
Speaking at the conference, THACO Chairman Tran Ba Duong said: As the first enterprise to invest in the Open Economic Zone and contributing to its success, after 20 years, THACO has demonstrated its role as a driving force for the province. With today's planning announcement, THACO recognizes its great responsibility in continuing to develop projects according to the plan in the following fields: automotive industry, mechanical engineering, supporting industries, pharmaceutical and agricultural/forestry production, especially the logistics center and containerized cargo center in Quang Nam, Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands.
2. Digital transformation creates breakthroughs in automotive production management at THACO Chu Lai.
In 2024, THACO AUTO pioneered the application of modern technologies such as MES and SCADA systems in production management, helping to increase productivity and tightly control quality. Currently, all factories have effectively implemented the SCADA system to collect, manage, store, and analyze data, while also providing equipment fault alerts at each stage and promptly preventing incidents during the production process.
In particular, THACO Mazda is a pioneering factory in applying digital transformation to production management, having successfully implemented and operated the MES system. With a strong commitment to comprehensive digital transformation, the THACO AUTO Production Division will continue to upgrade and apply the MES production management system to all factories by 2025.
In addition to applying technology in production, THACO AUTO also develops and exports sleeper buses and high-end passenger buses to Autodelta (Philippines), products suitable for the infrastructure and traffic conditions in that market; and simultaneously exports painted body kits and components for Kia New Carnival vehicles to India. With these positive results, export revenue in 2024 is projected to reach US$12.6 million.
3. Thaco Trailers brand joins the North American Intermodal Transport Association and participates in the IANA Intermodal Expo.
In 2024, THACO INDUSTRIES boosted production and diversified its product range, including many new products, exporting to 20 countries worldwide. The group penetrated several new and promising markets such as Denmark, New Zealand, and the UK. A highlight of the year was Thaco Trailers (part of THACO INDUSTRIES) becoming a member of the International Association of North American Multimodal Transport (IANA) after meeting criteria regarding production capacity, product quality, and export revenue to the North American market.
Furthermore, with the debut of its semi-trailer product at the IANA Intermodal Expo 2024 (USA), Thaco Trailers made a strong impression on partners and visitors with its large production capacity and state-of-the-art technology lines, leading in Southeast Asia. This affirmed the quality of its products and the brand's position as Vietnam's leading semi-trailer manufacturer in the global market.
4. THACO AGRI makes a strong breakthrough in the field of cattle production and breeding.
2024 witnessed remarkable growth for THACO AGRI in the cattle farming sector. The Group achieved impressive results in implementing its strategy of breeding cattle, semi-intensive beef cattle farming, fattening beef cattle combined with fruit tree cultivation (durian, mango, pomelo), and establishing cattle farming enterprises in agricultural complexes in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.
THACO AGRI's total cattle herd has grown impressively, reaching over 113,000 head, including 79,066 breeding cows, with a total of 71 farms. Alongside this expansion, THACO AGRI continuously researches and applies advanced cattle breeding techniques from Australia to improve the productivity and quality of beef cattle.
THACO AGRI's livestock farming model goes beyond simply developing its cattle herd; it also integrates with fruit tree and forestry cultivation, creating a sustainable agricultural ecosystem. The application of mechanization and the processing of feed from agricultural by-products not only reduces costs but also contributes to environmental protection. The ERP management system, utilizing software to manage livestock operations, optimizes every stage from herd management and supply chain to production, resulting in efficient and modern operations.
Besides its achievements in production and business, THACO AGRI also places special emphasis on community development. The expansion of its agricultural complexes has created thousands of jobs, contributing to improving the lives of workers and promoting local socio-economic development. 5. THADICO intensifies its efforts to connect with and promote domestic and international investment.
In 2024, THADICO actively expanded cooperation with potential businesses and investors, gathering the latest information to build long-term investment strategies, contributing to the socio-economic development and overall growth of the Group. In addition to boosting connectivity and promoting investment and trade nationwide, in 2024, THADICO continued to invest in and complete many important projects for its member corporations, such as specialized industrial parks in Chu Lai - Quang Nam and Thai Binh, expanding and upgrading Chu Lai port, completing the Thiso Mall Truong Chinh - Phan Huy Ich project, upgrading the THISO complex in Myanmar, and simultaneously implementing construction and upgrading of many projects and works for THACO AUTO, THACO AGRI, etc.
6. THISO launches two new F&B brands, developing a "One destination - Multiple amenities and services" model.
Continuously diversifying its business activities to keep pace with modern trends and customer preferences, THISO launched new F&B models in 2024, including Besoverse Cosmic Cafe and Thiskyhall Café Lounge. These two brands contribute to increased convenience for customers and mark a new step forward for THISO in the F&B sector.
In the retail sector, THISO continues to operate the 2nd and 3rd floors of Thiso Mall Truong Chinh - Phan Huy Ich. At the same time, it leverages its strengths and continuously implements attractive promotional programs during special holidays at the Thiso Mall shopping center system and the Emart hypermarket system.
7. Chu Lai International Port puts into operation a 50,000-ton capacity berth and advanced gantry cranes.
In September 2024, Chu Lai International Port put into operation berth No. 2, with a length of 365m, increasing the total berth length to 836m, capable of receiving vessels with a tonnage of 50,000 DWT. In addition, the port also put into operation a system of specialized, high-capacity cranes such as STS and RTG, and opened many new direct shipping routes connecting to the US and Indian markets. Chu Lai International Port covers an area of 140 hectares, with a warehouse and yard system of over 300,000m2 and a capacity of up to 500,000 tons, meeting the import and export needs of businesses. With systematic and modern investment, in 2024, the total cargo throughput of the port reached over 4 million tons, an increase of 35% compared to 2023.
2024 also marked a significant development for THILOGI in expanding its logistics network as the Group became a member of several international logistics organizations such as: the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA), the World Cargo Alliance (WCA), and the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) of the US government.
8. THACO was honored as one of the top 2 most favored employers in the manufacturing industry.
On December 5th, at the Employer Of Choice 2024 awards ceremony, THACO won three awards for the Large Enterprise category, including: “Top 2 Most Preferred Employers in the Manufacturing Industry”, “Top 3 Most Preferred Employers by Candidates in the Industry”, and “Top 15 Most Preferred Employers”.
This recognition is a testament to the professional and humane working environment that THACO has built. In 2024, the Group organized more than 2,500 in-depth training programs, meticulously designed for each job position. Along with transparent salary and bonus policies and competitive benefits, THACO has attracted and recruited nearly 25,000 high-quality personnel across its entire system.
9. THACO sponsors the 1st Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival – 2024
To contribute to honoring cultural and artistic values through cinema, THACO is a strategic sponsor for the 1st Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival – 2024 (HIFF 2024), taking place from April 6-13. Accordingly, THACO is partnering with several important components at Cine Park Thu Thiem (Saigon Riverfront Park); providing a venue for a series of conferences and seminars on cinema at the Thiskyhall Convention Center; and using all 80 passenger cars manufactured and distributed by THACO AUTO to transport guests and artists to the event.
Alongside its business activities, THACO has always focused on fulfilling its social responsibility in many areas, with a total investment of over 3,200 billion VND over the past 27 years. In 2024 alone, THACO sponsored over 200 billion VND for programs such as: "Nutrition for poor and disabled children," the "Road to Olympia" program, the "For the Poor" Fund, the "Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses" program, the 10th Da Lat Flower Festival – 2024; the Vietnam Youth and Student Football Tournament, the Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament…
10. THACO's trade union actively cares for the well-being of its employees.
In 2024, THACO organized numerous cultural, artistic, and sports activities, creating a beneficial and cohesive environment for its employees. Highlights included the "Combining Strength - Connecting Success" sports festival, programs celebrating International Women's Day (March 8th) and Vietnamese Women's Day (October 20th), the "Innovation - Improvement" competition, the "Excellent Worker - Creative Worker" movement, and the online competition "THACO - Developing with the Nation".
Simultaneously, THACO also donated clothing and household goods to Cambodian and Laotian workers at THACO AGRI's agricultural complexes through the "THACO - Giving Love" program. In addition, the Group built spacious housing for workers at the THACO Chu Lai Industrial Park and other agricultural complexes, thereby improving the quality of life for employees and helping them feel secure in their work and dedicate themselves to their work.
