5 major universities suddenly 'kill' block C

According to the latest announced enrollment information, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities , Vietnam National University, Hanoi has eliminated the C00 block in 17/28 majors and training programs, including: Journalism, Social Work, Cinema and Popular Arts, Oriental Studies, Korean Studies, Management Science, Public Relations, Information Management, Tourism and Travel Services Management, Hotel Management, Office Management, International Studies, Psychology, Information - Library, Cultural Studies, Vietnamese Studies, Sociology.

Instead, the school uses combinations with English subjects such as D14 (Literature, History, English), D15 (Literature, Geography, English), D66 (Literature,Civics , English). Last year, the school considered combination C00 for 26/28 majors and training programs.

Hanoi Open University also announced that it will not recruit group C00 in 2025. Instead, the university's social majors such as Law and Tourism will only recruit groups with Math, including: (Math, Literature, English, (Math, English, History), (Math, English, Geography), (Math, English, Economic and Legal Education), (Math, Physics, English).

Previously, the University of Law (Hanoi National University) also announced that it would no longer consider the C00 combination from this year's admission season. With the admission based on the results of the high school graduation exam, the school uses 6 combinations including C03 (Math, Literature, History), A07 (Math, History, Geography), A01 (Math, Physics, English), D01 (Math, Literature, English), D14 (Literature, History, English), D15 (Literature, Geography, English).

Group C00 is also absent in this year's admission season of Hanoi University of Procuracy. However, students studying this group still have the opportunity to apply to the school with groups of subjects related to group C00 such as C03 (Literature, Math, History); D14 (Literature, History, English); D15 (Literature, Geography, English)...

Hanoi Capital University has stopped considering block C00 in the fields of Law, Psychology, Educational Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

The Academy of Journalism and Communication has completely abandoned the C00 group admission test. At the same time, the school no longer considers Geography in all training programs. Last year, History was the only major of the academy that considered the traditional C group, with the highest admission score of the academy being 38.12/40.

According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, candidates taking the high school graduation exam this year will take two compulsory subjects: Math and Literature and two elective subjects from the general education program, including: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Literature, Geography, History, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology and Foreign Languages (English, German, Russian, Japanese, French, Chinese, Korean). With the number of exams and the way to choose these subjects, candidates have 36 combinations to choose from for the high school graduation exam and 81 combinations for university admission.

Also according to the university admission regulations in 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training has removed the requirement that each major and training program have a maximum of 4 admission combinations. Instead, universities and colleges can freely determine the admission subject combinations suitable for their training majors, with no limit on the number.

The Ministry of Education and Training noted that the subject combinations used for admission must be scientifically and practically developed and ensure the selection of candidates with basic knowledge and core competencies, suitable for the training program.
