7 years of developing foliar fertilizer solution.

After 7 years of research, preparation, and experimentation with foliar fertilizer solutions, farmer, teacher, and agricultural engineer Pham Ngoc Khanh (born in 1988) from Xuan Truong ward, Da Lat, has expanded the application of the fertilizer to various crops, from chrysanthemums to vegetables and coffee plants, in agricultural areas at altitudes of 1,000-1,500 meters in Lam Dong province.

Farmer Nguyen Huu Phuc in Doi Tra area, Lam Vien ward - Da Lat, after about two years of significantly reducing the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides to switch to using Pham Ngoc Khanh's foliar fertilizer solution (PNK01), has seen clear benefits. Mr. Phuc shared: “Using PNK01, I see that chrysanthemum plants develop thick stems, dense green leaves, and are less susceptible to pests and diseases. When harvested, the flower stems are large and uniform, they stay fresh longer, and traders come to buy and sell them quite quickly…” This is one of dozens of farming households using PNK01 on chrysanthemum plants that have significantly reduced input costs and increased output revenue in Xuan Truong, Lam Vien, Cam Ly wards - Da Lat and Don Duong, Quang Lap, Nam Ban, and Dinh Van communes in Lam Dong province.

The results from chrysanthemum cultivation over the past two years have encouraged Mr. Pham Ngoc Khanh to continue developing and supplementing microbial nutrient components suitable for absorption by various vegetable and coffee plants in the province. Farmer Dinh Van Minh, from Dinh Van Lam Ha commune, stated that after many years of growing bell peppers, his family understands that balanced nutrition is essential for healthy plants and uniform fruit production. Through the local farmers' association, his family boldly experimented with foliar spraying of PNK01 solution to replace most inorganic fertilizers. As a result, the bell pepper plants absorbed nutrients quickly, had a high fruit set rate, produced large, glossy, and vibrant fruits, and traders came to the farm to purchase them directly at stable prices…

According to Mr. Pham Ngoc Khanh, to prepare the foliar fertilizer solution, he independently researched and mixed ingredients such as soybeans, rice husk ash, molasses, fish protein, seaweed, seashell powder, and microbial salt. He then conducted his first experiment on 3,000 square meters of his chrysanthemum garden in Xuan Truong ward, Da Lat. After many years of practice, evaluation, modification, and supplementation of the solution's components to achieve optimal effectiveness for each chrysanthemum crop in his garden, Mr. Khanh began to expand the application to other farmers' chrysanthemum fields in the surrounding area. He then spent many more years meticulously analyzing data on the use of the PNK01 solution to arrive at the most effective "solution" for other crops.

Farmer Nguyen Tan Danh in Phu Son commune, Lam Ha district, verified the effectiveness of the foliar fertilizer solution and observed significant changes in his coffee plants. Specifically, the coffee seedlings showed lush, sturdy green leaves, deep taproots, and numerous fibrous roots, making them less susceptible to lodging or pests and diseases. Farmers who planted them reported positive results. Commercial coffee plants recovered quickly after harvest, with strong reserve branches, vigorous and dense new shoots, and glossy, beautiful foliage. By the time the coffee plants bloomed and bore fruit, the rate was high, and the ripe fruit was uniformly harvested.

According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Binh, former Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Xuan Tho commune, formerly Da Lat city (now Xuan Truong ward, Da Lat), the Association has recently introduced foliar fertilizer solutions for farmers to use on a trial basis, from chrysanthemum gardens to carrot and other vegetable gardens, achieving encouraging results. Chrysanthemum plants are healthy, with thick stems and leaves, and the flowers bloom for a long time, fetching good prices in the market. Carrot plants grow vigorously, producing large, plump roots…

Farmer Dinh Van Minh from Dinh Van Lam Ha commune noted that growing bell peppers with balanced foliar fertilizers resulted in uniform fruit production and quick sales.

Currently, Mr. Pham Ngoc Khanh is continuing his research to create a new foliar fertilizer solution for fruit trees in the province. It is hoped that Mr. Khanh will continue to achieve new successes, contributing to the practical transformation of green and sustainable production processes in Lam Dong province.
