Bicycle race to celebrate 120 years of Sapa tourism "Conquer Mong Sen, the tallest viaduct in Vietnam - LCC7" organized by Sa Pa Town People's Committee is expected to take place on July 23.
Participating in the tournament, the athletes will conquer the 13 km long track. The track is 80% pure climbing (up hill). This is a BOT route connecting Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway to Sa Pa (starting from the beginning of the BOT road in Lao Cai city; the destination is located on Mong Sen bridge in Sa Pa town, Lao Cai province). Mong Sen Bridge (located in Sa Pa town, Lao Cai province), is an overland bridge with 83m high piers, has a "key" meaning in the construction of the highway connecting Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway to Sa Pa National Tourist Area, reducing traffic pressure for the National Highway 4D arterial route.
Mong Sen Bridge has a total investment of nearly 500 billion VND. Started in early 2020, Mong Sen Bridge has basically been completed, reaching 99% of the workload. This is a cross-terrain viaduct with a length of 612m, connecting from the foothill area to the top of the three-storey slope - the most difficult, winding, and dangerous road on the road from Lao Cai city to Sapa town. The bridge is built of reinforced concrete, the surface is 14m wide with 4 lanes, 5 continuous spans, of which the longest span is 132m, constructed by the balanced cantilevered box girder method. After this route is completed, it will facilitate travel and trade, contributing to promoting socio-economic development of Lao Cai province and the Northwest region.
Because it crosses the valley, it has an altitude of nearly 100m, so the construction of Mong Sen bridge is often covered by clouds, the bridge seems to go through the clouds. Standing on the bridge, looking out into the distance in many directions are beautiful terraced fields. This highest viaduct in Vietnam has a "key" meaning in the construction of the route connecting Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway to Sa Pa National Tourist Area.
