Comrade Nguyen Hoang Long, Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society, said: “Following the directives of the Vietnam Red Cross Society Central Committee, from the beginning of December 2025, the “Compassionate Tet” movement for the Spring of the Year of the Horse 2026 was planned in detail by the Provincial Red Cross Society and the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee. The Society has directed its subordinate branches to review the target groups of the poor, lonely elderly, ethnic minorities, policy beneficiary families, etc., to implement activities to care for them during Tet. As a bridge and coordinator in humanitarian work, the Red Cross Societies at all levels have been striving to mobilize maximum resources to give many meaningful Tet gifts to vulnerable groups, those in difficult circumstances, and households affected by natural disasters, storms, and floods in 2025.”
The Provincial Red Cross Society will organize "Humanitarian Fairs" with a minimum of 300 beneficiaries, offering gifts worth at least 300,000 VND per free shopping voucher. The event will begin in mid-January 2026, aiming to provide material and spiritual support to the poor, those in difficult circumstances, and vulnerable people so they can happily celebrate the New Year, in accordance with local conditions, contributing to building a united and compassionate community.
The "Compassionate Tet" campaign, initiated by the Provincial Red Cross Society, mobilizes benevolent units, organizations, and individuals both domestically and internationally to help poor households, those in difficult circumstances, and vulnerable people have a fulfilling Tet holiday. The goal is to mobilize over 25,000 Tet gift packages throughout the province, with each package valued at least 300,000 VND.
At the Conference of Outstanding Exemplars and Commendations for Sponsors in 2025 and the 79th Anniversary of the Founding of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (November 23, 1946 - November 23, 2025), the Provincial Red Cross Society and the Provincial Fatherland Front launched the "Compassionate Tet" campaign for the Spring of the Year of the Horse 2026. At this event, the Provincial Red Cross Society received over 7.2 billion VND from organizations, businesses, and philanthropists.
Venerable Thich Thanh Phuc, Deputy Head and Chief Secretary of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Tuyen Quang province, said: “The Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Tuyen Quang province donated 2,300 Tet gifts, totaling over 1.3 billion VND, at the launching ceremony of the “Compassionate Tet” movement for the Spring of the Year of the Horse 2026. The Executive Board coordinated with the Provincial Red Cross Society to organize the “Compassionate Tet” Fair. At the same time, it will cooperate with other temples and Buddhist monasteries in the province to continue participating in charitable and social programs during Tet launched by the Fatherland Front and the Provincial Red Cross Society.”
Caring for the poor and those in particularly difficult circumstances during Tet (Lunar New Year) is a major policy that the Party, State, and all levels and sectors in the province pay attention to, especially during each Tet holiday. The Provincial Red Cross Society, together with the Party committee and government, is becoming an "extended arm" of the "Compassionate Tet" movement, bringing the warmth of spring to everyone and every home.
