In May, coach Kim Sang Sik will lead the ASEAN All Stars team in a special friendly match against Manchester United. The match will take place at Bukit Jalil Stadium (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) on May 28th.
What fans are waiting for is the list of players who will represent the region against Man United. First, three players from Vietnam have been selected: Do Duy Manh, Nguyen Quang Hai, and Nguyen Hoang Duc.
However, Quang Hai's case may need reconsideration because Hanoi Police FC is currently mired in injuries and is unlikely to release him. Quang Hai himself hasn't been in his best physical condition recently.
Thailand, the reigning ASEAN Cup runner-up, also has three players selected: goalkeeper Patiwat Khammai, center-back Nikolas Mickelson, and midfielder Peeradon Chamratsamee. All three have been key players for the national team recently.
Meanwhile, star player Supachok Sarachat, who scored against Vietnam in the second leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final, was absent. He currently plays for Japanese club Consadole Sapporo, and with a packed schedule, his participation in the match against Man United is highly unlikely.
Other notable names such as Theerathon Bunmathan and Chanathip Songkrasin, although not nominated by the Football Association of Thailand (FAT), still have a chance to appear in the ASEAN All Stars team, according to Thai media.
On the Indonesian side, they sent two fairly familiar players: defender Asnawi Mangkualam and Muhammad Ferrari. Both are currently playing in Thailand and Indonesia, so they are likely to be called up for this match. In addition, Indonesian media speculate that star player Jay Idzes might also participate, possibly even wearing the captain's armband for the ASEAN All Stars. This player is currently the captain of Venezia FC, which plays in the Italian Serie A.
Other confirmed players for the ASEAN All Stars match include: Haziq Nadzli, Dominic Tan, Sergio Aguero (Malaysia), Azwan Ali Rahman (Brunei), Bounphachan Bounkong, Kan Mo, Andres Neto (Cambodia), Maung Maung Lwin (Myanmar), João Pedro (Timor Leste). This list is subject to change depending on the situation.
The most expensive ticket costs over 8 million VND.
The friendly match between the ASEAN All Stars team and Man United will take place on May 28th at the Bukit Jalil Stadium. The host country has now announced the ticket prices for the event.
Accordingly, the cheapest ticket (CAT 7) costs 50 ringgit (approximately 293,000 VND). Meanwhile, the most expensive (VIP) ticket costs 1,500 ringgit (over 8.8 million VND). Other ticket categories range from 100 ringgit (approximately 586,000 VND) to 780 ringgit (approximately 4.5 million VND). However, the hype surrounding Manchester United could drive black market ticket prices up many times over.
