Xiaomi has officially launched its affordable Redmi Buds 8 wireless earbuds in several markets worldwide, including the UK and Germany.

Priced at £40 in the UK and €50 in Germany, this Xiaomi headphone model promises impressive specifications for its price. However, it's worth noting that the retail price in Germany after the initial promotional period ends will be €60.

The Redmi Buds 8 are priced at less than one-fifth the cost of AirPods Pro 3.

For comparison, AirPods Pro 3 currently cost up to £219 in the UK, which is more than five times the price of Redmi Buds 8. The Redmi Buds 8 are equipped with ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) capable of reducing noise by up to 50 dB and a noise cancellation range of up to 4 kHz. They feature 3 levels of adaptive ANC and 3 transparency modes, allowing users to hear external sounds when needed. Audio is handled by 11 mm dynamic drivers, supporting Hi-Res Audio Wireless and LHDC codecs; however, LHDC requires a software update and compatible devices. Additionally, the earbuds incorporate 5 preset EQ settings and support custom EQ based on hearing tests.

In terms of battery life, the Redmi Buds 8 can last up to 11 hours with the earbuds alone and a total of 44 hours with the charging case, if ANC is turned off. With ANC on, usage time drops to 6.5 hours for the earbuds and 28 hours total. A 10-minute charge provides up to 4 hours of music playback. The earbuds also support dual-device connectivity, Google Fast Pair, voice-activated earbud finding, Bluetooth 5.4, and are dust and water resistant to IP54 standards.

While the Redmi Buds 8 can't completely replace AirPods Pro, they're a great option for those who want active noise cancellation, long battery life, and good sound quality without spending too much money.
