Representatives of the Trade Union of Yazaki Hai Phong Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Hai Phong Japanese Industrial Park) presented lucky money to the children of workers on the "reunion" bus trip.

These year-end journeys are not only filled with luggage but also with the joy of reunion, sharing, and the heartfelt affection that businesses and the Hai Phong Trade Union organization have for workers and laborers far from home.

Safe and compassionate journeys

At 5:30 AM on February 14th (the 27th day of the 12th lunar month), the courtyard of Yazaki Hai Phong Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Japan Industrial Park - Hai Phong) was bustling with laughter and chatter. More than 300 union members, workers, and their relatives gathered, preparing to board buses to return to their hometowns.

Having worked for the company for over 14 years, Ms. Vu Thi Loan, an employee in the Maintenance Department, eagerly awaits departure time with her husband and two children.

Ms. Loan shared: “After the last working day of the year, the children also get a day off from school. Last night, the whole family hurriedly packed our bags so we could be on time this morning. Before, traveling by bus was very difficult; sometimes we had to wait half a day just to buy tickets. For almost 10 years now, my family has been traveling on company-organized buses. It's safe, convenient, and costs less than 180,000 VND for four people, while a taxi would cost around 2 million VND.”

For Ms. Loan, these "reunion" bus trips not only help save on travel costs during Tet but also represent a practical show of care from the company and the Trade Union, further motivating employees to feel secure and committed to long-term employment.

When the workers had gathered, the company leaders and the local union extended New Year greetings, encouraged the workers to rest, and promised to meet again after the long holiday. At exactly 6 o'clock, the vehicles rolled away one by one, carrying the joy of reunion for hundreds of families.

During this year's Lunar New Year holiday, the Trade Union of Yazaki Hai Phong Vietnam Co., Ltd. collaborated with the company to organize eight bus trips to transport employees and their families back to the provinces of Lang Son, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Bac Ninh , Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh.

From an initial registration of over 200 people, by the time of departure, more than 300 union members and their relatives had received support. In addition to arranging transportation, the Union also gave lucky money to the children, making the farewell atmosphere even warmer.

Kien Hoa - Dat Viet Pipe Pile Company Limited (Phu Thai commune) organized a "Loving Union" bus trip to take its members home for Tet (Lunar New Year).

Earlier, on the morning of February 11th, more than 400 workers from Regina Miracle Vietnam Co., Ltd. (VSIP Hai Phong Industrial Park) were also provided with transportation to return home for Tet (Lunar New Year).

Along with his wife and two children, Giàng A Vả, from Mường Nhé commune ( Điện Biên province ), shared that this was the first year the company had organized transportation for workers from distant provinces. Everyone was surprised and happy to receive the care and attention from the company and the trade union.

According to Vu Dinh Phi, Chairman of the company's Trade Union, the company organized 14 bus trips to take workers back to the provinces of Dien Bien, Son La, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An.

Besides covering 100% of travel expenses, the Trade Union also provides a meal allowance of 80,000 VND per person to ensure their health during the long journey. "These trips demonstrate the sharing and gratitude of the company towards its employees," Mr. Phi emphasized.

The atmosphere of caring for workers during Tet (Lunar New Year) is also spreading to many businesses in Phu Thai commune. Ms. Do Thi Thu Phuong, Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Bao Long Shoe Co., Ltd., said that the company has more than 40% of its workers from other provinces, so the support for transportation back home has been maintained for the past 10 years.

This year, the company organized six bus trips for 150 workers to return to provinces such as Dien Bien, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Nghe An, and Thanh Hoa; at the same time, it provided bus ticket subsidies for 180 workers at a rate of 250,000 - 500,000 VND per person depending on the distance.

Chairman of the Phu Thai Commune Trade Union, Tran Duc Nam, further informed that, along with Bao Long Shoe Co., Ltd., Kien Hoa - Dat Viet Pipe Pile Co., Ltd. also organized 5 "Trade Union Love" bus trips to take 116 union members back to the provinces of Tuyen Quang, Lai Chau, Son La, Dien Bien, etc.

Many other grassroots trade unions do not organize their own transportation but still fully cover bus fares and allow migrant workers to leave work a day early to return home for family reunions. Notable examples include the trade unions of Sun June Toys Vietnam Co., Ltd., Li Tai Yong He, Solid Electric Technology, Sunrong, etc.

Comrade Vu Ngoc Thuc, Deputy Head of the Trade Union Affairs Department of the City Federation of Labor, said that due to the great demand from workers from distant provinces, this year the City Federation of Labor continues to support 49,444 bus tickets, worth 200,000 VND each. For businesses that organize their own transportation, the Trade Union provides additional financial support, lucky money, meals, and drinks throughout the journey.

These "reunion" bus trips have become an annual event, clearly demonstrating the supportive and caring role of the Trade Union organization towards workers. Each ticket and bus trip not only helps workers return home safely and economically but also creates a positive atmosphere and instills confidence, encouraging them to return to the factory and continue contributing immediately after the holiday.
