From a distant land, we turn our thoughts towards our homeland.

In recent days, the April 30th celebration in Ho Chi Minh City has not only been a matter of national interest for Vietnam but has also drawn attention from countries around the world . Vietnamese people, wherever they may be on this earth, are united in their hearts and minds towards their beloved homeland, the S-shaped land of Vietnam, with its red flag and yellow star.

TikToker Kieu Phung shows her love for her homeland while in the distant land of Tibet.

While millions of Vietnamese people turned their attention to Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate the glorious historical moments of April, in a distant land called Tibet, a TikToker named Kieu Phung proudly waved the Vietnamese flag atop a Tibetan mountain, facing towards her homeland with the message: “Sending thousands of loving wishes from Tibet, the roof of the world. Wherever I am, I always look towards my homeland. Proud to be Vietnamese. Grateful to live and grow up in peace and freedom. Welcome to the great celebration of April 30th, the liberation of the South, and the reunification of the country.”

The sky was filled with "April Red Flags".

Meanwhile, within the country, there was an outpouring of emotions about the day of national reunification. Overwhelmed with emotion, a Facebook account named Dieu Linh composed a poem: "The Red Flag of April."

"So much blood and sacrifice went into making that 30th anniversary possible."
The flag blazes brightly, how much I cherish April!
Fulfilling the President's wish, just as he had always dreamed.
Embrace the beloved South with all your heart.
The country is unified now, Uncle Ho! Do you know that?
North and South are one family, blood and flesh inseparable...
For many years, he "searched for a way to save the country" far away...
People are still waiting for the day of "freedom and independence".
There is no greater happiness than having one's homeland intact.
Is there any musical note more joyful than the sound of a child's singing?
The agreement that the whole nation has been waiting for for years.
A strip of land adorned with golden stars
My heart will forever remember your kindness.
"Happiness - pride... the red flag of April."

Author Dieu Linh expressed on her personal page: " Peace is so beautiful, Uncle Ho! One night, we dozed off right in the middle of the city named after you. We slept peacefully with our friends, amidst a forest of fluttering red flags with yellow stars. We wanted to feel the happiness of the entire nation on the day of reunification 50 years ago. We have come to understand more why generations of our ancestors did not hesitate to shed their blood for freedom, independence, and national reunification. We will forever remember you, forever remember those who dedicated themselves to the peace, independence, and happiness we have today. We wish good health to all the veteran uncles, aunts, and grandparents. You have sacrificed yourselves for the cause of national liberation and reunification. We stand here, at your feet, with boundless gratitude."

Unwavering love for the country

With millions of hearts, there are millions of ways for Vietnamese people to express their patriotism. But no matter how it's expressed, love for the country remains as steadfast as the vibrant red of the Vietnamese flag.

The youth of Binh Phuoc are spreading a beautiful spirit of peace.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country, the youth of Binh Phuoc, along with the youth of the whole country, responded to the nationwide campaign with the theme "Peace is Beautiful," launched by the Central Youth Union. This activity aims to widely spread the sacred and precious values of peace, independence, and national reunification; to awaken patriotism, national pride, self-reliance, and the aspiration to contribute to building a prosperous and happy country among the younger generation and the entire society. In a warm space filled with flags and flowers, decorated to express the patriotism of the youth of Binh Phuoc, this was also a place for young people to take photos, record videos, and spread the message "Peace is Beautiful."

Facebook user Le Lan wrote: “I don't fully understand the pain of war, but I know the happiness of peace. I can't rewrite history, but I vow to engrave it in my heart and be grateful. Grateful for the hardships our forefathers endured to gain the peace we enjoy today. Grateful for the countless heroes who laid down their lives so that their descendants could soar high.”

50 years of healing from war.
50 years of self-reliance and self-strengthening
50 years of relentless effort
For eternal independence and freedom
Happy 50th anniversary to my homeland, Vietnam!

Grateful for sacred values

Independence, freedom, and happiness are sacred values that the Vietnamese people have inherited, regardless of class, region, or ethnicity. Therefore, as we approach Independence Day, people express their patriotism in many ways, wherever they are, and in connection with their work. This is exemplified by the small business owners at the Bu Nho Commercial Center in Phu Rieng district, who shared their simple sentiments: “No matter where we are, what we do… the spirit of patriotism always burns brightly in our hearts! With national pride, unwavering faith, and the solidarity of the Vietnamese people, we – the women small business owners at the Bu Nho Commercial Center in Phu Rieng district – always carry within us the blood of Lac Hong. Even though we are just small businesses, we are proud to be citizens of Vietnam.”

Small business owners in Phu Rieng turn their thoughts towards the Fatherland on Independence Day.

"I couldn't hold back my tears when I thought about the millions of Vietnamese mothers who had to hold the death certificates of their children. Keeping the child means losing the country! That's also a saying deeply ingrained in the minds of every Vietnamese person: 'Better to sacrifice everything than to lose the country, than to be enslaved'" - Facebook user Quyenanh Vu shared.

Facebook user QuyenAnh Vu expresses gratitude to the older generation.

Countless generations before us have fallen so that countless younger generations could be born into peace, independence, freedom, and happiness. Today's youth will forever be grateful for the sacrifices of their forefathers, using them as motivation to study, train, and strive to contribute their youthful energy to building a more prosperous and beautiful homeland, and to continue the aspirations and contributions of those who fell before they could fulfill them.
