On March 5th, Regiment 20 organized the reception of new recruits from Can Tho City and the provinces of An Giang and Ca Mau. From early morning, officers and soldiers were present at the reception area, welcoming the recruits with firm handshakes and heartfelt greetings. The atmosphere of the reception was both serious and formal, yet warm, like returning to a shared home.

The new recruits quickly completed the procedures, had their records checked, and were assigned to their units. Upon arriving at their quarters, their beds and equipment were already prepared. 100% of the new recruits received all the necessary supplies and were settled in their living, studying, and daily routines. These seemingly small things were crucial starting points, helping the young soldiers confidently embark on their training journey ahead.

Lieutenant Colonel Truong Minh Tan, Deputy Regiment Commander and Chief of Staff of Regiment 20, stated: “Taking care of the soldiers' lives, especially new recruits, is a continuous task of the unit. We are determined to ensure the best possible living conditions, from food and accommodation to healthcare and mental well-being, so that soldiers can work with peace of mind and remain committed to the unit.”

Along with organizational stability, the Regiment pays attention to the health of its soldiers. In March 2026, the unit organized tetanus and meningococcal meningitis vaccinations for new recruits. The vaccination process was carried out strictly and professionally; screening was conducted before vaccination, and health was monitored after vaccination. The medical team directly disseminated information and guided soldiers on disease prevention and control measures in collective living environments.

In addition, initial physical fitness checks were conducted rigorously with activities such as 100m running, swimming, pull-ups, etc. Through these checks, the unit gained a thorough understanding of each soldier's health status, providing a basis for developing appropriate training plans. On the training ground, officers closely monitored and guided each movement, encouraging soldiers to overcome initial unfamiliarity. Private Ho Minh Toi, residing in An Giang province, shared: "In the beginning, I felt disoriented and homesick. But with the officers' attentive care and guidance, adequate food and accommodation, and orderly living arrangements, I quickly adapted. I am determined to train well so as not to disappoint my family and unit."

In addition to providing for the material needs of its soldiers, Regiment 20 also focuses on nurturing their spiritual well-being. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Minh Duong, Political Commissar of Regiment 20, stated: “Besides ensuring a good material life, we place special emphasis on educating and guiding the soldiers' ideology. Our goal is to ensure that each new recruit is not only physically healthy but also strong-willed, confident, and committed to the unit, viewing it as their second home. Regular collective activities, cultural exchanges, and sports events are maintained.”

On weekends, the unit facilitates visits from family members to new recruits. Quick hugs and warm words of encouragement from loved ones help the young soldiers alleviate homesickness and strengthen their resolve in the unit. Private Vo Quang Huy confided: “We are very touched to have our families visit us. But what makes us feel even more secure is that in the unit, everyone is always cared for like family. The brothers in the squad are united and help each other, so I feel this place is my second home.”

Through concrete and practical actions, Regiment 20 is daily cultivating a regular, warm, and compassionate military environment. This comprehensive care helps new recruits mature quickly while also contributing to improved training quality, building a strong unit, and ensuring readiness to receive and successfully complete all assigned tasks.
