According to the Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society, Ly Van Thanh, with the desire for all citizens to celebrate Tet in a joyful and warm atmosphere, the Society has developed a specific plan to implement the "Compassionate Tet" movement for the Spring of the Year of the Horse 2026 since the beginning of December 2025. The focus is on mobilizing and connecting the participation of organizations, businesses, charitable clubs, and a large number of people to provide both material and spiritual support to those in difficult circumstances, helping them celebrate the traditional Tet holiday in warmth and compassion.

Building upon effective models and innovative approaches from previous years, this year's campaign focuses on mobilizing local resources and encouraging individuals and organizations to demonstrate social responsibility. The distribution of Tet gifts will be carried out appropriately, promptly, respectfully, and safely; prioritizing support for vulnerable families and households affected by natural disasters in 2025.
According to the plan, during the Lunar New Year 2026, Red Cross branches at all levels in the province will mobilize and donate 24,300 Tet gifts, each worth 500,000 VND or more, to poor households, victims of Agent Orange/dioxin, and other social welfare beneficiaries.
The "Compassionate Tet" campaign will be implemented from January 15th to February 10th, 2026 (corresponding to the 27th to 23rd day of the 12th lunar month). A new feature this year is the organization of a "Compassionate Tet" Week at the commune level from February 2nd to 9th, 2026 (15th to 22nd day of the 12th lunar month). Communes and wards with favorable conditions are encouraged to exceed their targets to share and provide additional support to disadvantaged areas in the province.
For areas where the Red Cross organization is not yet fully established, the provincial Red Cross will direct clubs and volunteers to coordinate with local authorities to review and promptly support those in difficult circumstances, with the goal of ensuring that no one is left behind during Tet.

A highlight of the movement is the provincial-level "Charitable Tet Market" program in 2026, planned to be held in Hai Son border commune, home to a large ethnic minority population. The Tet market is expected to take place on February 1st, 2026 (the 14th day of the 12th lunar month) with 500 gift packages, totaling 250 million VND, for disadvantaged people in Hai Son commune and surrounding areas.
At this year's Charitable Tet Market, people will receive vouchers to exchange for goods at zero-cost stalls, including essential necessities such as rice, cooking oil, fish sauce, sugar, milk, and confectionery. In addition, the Provincial Red Cross Society will coordinate with local authorities and organizations to hold cultural and artistic activities, folk games reflecting the local culture; and connect with businesses and cooperatives to sell OCOP products, household goods, clothing, children's toys, ornamental plants, etc., creating a vibrant and heartwarming Tet shopping atmosphere.
As part of this year's Tet Charity Movement, the Thien Tam Fund ( Vingroup Group) will provide 2,000 gift packages, totaling 1.2 billion VND, to disadvantaged households in four wards: Ha An, Tuan Chau, Viet Hung, and Quang Hanh, to encourage and support them in celebrating the traditional Tet holiday in a joyful and warm atmosphere.
It can be seen that the "Compassionate Tet" movement - Spring of the Year of the Horse 2026 - not only brought practical gifts but also contributed to spreading the beautiful tradition of mutual support and compassion of the nation, helping vulnerable people in the province to celebrate a warm, joyful and meaningful Tet holiday.
