In accordance with the directives of the Central Party Secretariat, over the past five years, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Red Cross Society has played a pivotal role in organizing the Humanitarian Month throughout the province. Activities have been implemented extensively and practically, contributing to raising social awareness and spreading the spirit of "mutual support and compassion" among all segments of the population.

Through the Humanitarian Month, associations at all levels in the province mobilized and connected resources to assist more than 50,180 people in difficult circumstances, with a total support value of over 35 billion VND.

These forms of support have contributed to building housing, creating livelihoods, providing scholarships for poor students, and caring for elderly people living alone and vulnerable members of the community.

In addition, voluntary blood donation, medical examinations, health consultations, and free medication distribution are also carried out regularly and effectively.

These achievements are thanks to the coordinated efforts of local Party committees and authorities, as well as the joint efforts of organizations, businesses, and philanthropists inside and outside the province. This sharing has further motivated the poor and vulnerable to improve their lives, contributing to the goal of sustainable poverty reduction and ensuring social security in the province.

The Humanitarian Month 2025 will be held throughout the province in May, with two peak weeks from May 8th (International Red Cross and Red Crescent Day) to May 19th (Birthday of President Ho Chi Minh , the founder and first Honorary President of the Society).

With the message "Humanitarian Journey - Giving and Receiving Love," this year, the entire province aims to support more than 3,000 vulnerable people through practical forms of assistance.

These activities include the construction and renovation of a school canteen, and the provision of clean water and bookshelves to a disadvantaged school, with a total support amount of 300 million VND.

Each district and city in the province will mobilize agencies and units to support the livelihoods of at least 3 poor households or households with particularly difficult circumstances (minimum support of 15 million VND/household); provide humanitarian assistance to at least 35 poor households or households with difficult circumstances; build at least one humanitarian project; encourage 3 people to register to donate tissues and organs; and organize programs for medical examinations, health consultations, medication distribution, and gift giving for poor households or households with difficult circumstances…

In particular, the "Million Steps of Compassion - Continuing the Golden Chapter" campaign will attract 1,000 participants to walk or run online, conquering 15,000km, aiming to raise approximately 150 million VND for humanitarian purposes. These activities not only directly help those in difficult circumstances, instilling hope and motivation for them to rise above their challenges, but also strengthen the compassionate community.

Ms. Ma Thi Luong (63 years old, residing in Quyet Tien hamlet, Hop Thanh commune, Phu Luong district) is a poor household, and she is a single mother raising her children. Her life is full of hardships, as she faces illness and unstable income, mainly relying on cleaning, washing dishes, or other light work in the village.

For a long time, Mrs. Luong and her daughter lived in a dilapidated house, and every rainy season, she worried that the house could collapse at any moment. In response to this situation, a charitable group in the province, in coordination with the local authorities, built her a new house. The house, measuring 70 square meters and costing over 100 million VND, will be completed this coming June. This is an incredibly meaningful gift, giving her and her daughter renewed hope to continue striving in life.

Where there are difficult circumstances, there will be compassionate hearts. Mr. Le Hai Linh, Deputy Head of the Thai Nguyen Volunteer Club, shared: "The more we support, the more difficult situations we encounter that need help. However, resources are limited, so to avoid spreading ourselves too thin, we have focused on supporting poor and especially disadvantaged students through foster care and sponsorship. This year's Humanitarian Month, the club has supported 8 disadvantaged and academically excellent students across the province, each receiving 1-1.5 million VND per month for 12 months, totaling 180 million VND. We hope that our small contribution can accompany these students in their studies."

At the recent launch of the Humanitarian Month program, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Linh emphasized: Although the province's economy has achieved certain results, the lives of a segment of the population, especially in mountainous areas and ethnic minority regions, remain difficult. Currently, the province has 14,742 poor and near-poor households, and thousands of people are receiving regular social assistance. In addition, epidemics, natural disasters, and serious natural incidents have increased the number of poor people, disaster victims, and vulnerable individuals in need of assistance. Their lives still face many challenges, requiring the joint efforts and contributions of the entire society, along with continued attention and care from Party committees and authorities at all levels, to ensure a better life for the people.

Through various flexible and creative approaches, Red Cross organizations at all levels have reached countless disadvantaged individuals, bringing them faith, hope, and opportunities to improve their lives. With the theme "Joining hands to build a compassionate community," this year's Humanitarian Month continues to send the message that every small act, stemming from the heart, can create significant changes in the lives of others.
