- Spreading love through the "1,000 VND to help fishermen's children go to school" initiative.
- "3K Noodle Shop" – Where every breakfast is a story of love.
- Over 1,000 free vegetarian meals provided to impoverished patients.
A bowl of noodles costs only 1,000 dong, but it warms the hearts of those who eat it.
This vegetarian noodle shop has been run by the "Giving is Forever" volunteer group since the end of May in the lunar calendar. Initially, the group only collected and donated new clothes to the needy, but later developed the "1,000 VND Vegetarian Noodle Shop " model with the hope of providing a satisfying and heartwarming meal for people of all ages, including workers and lottery ticket vendors.
Ms. Vo Hong Cam, the group leader, shared: "Initially, the group only intended to open for the poor, factory workers, and lottery ticket vendors. But after just one day of operation, more than 20 people came to eat, and we no longer discriminated against anyone; everyone who came was served."
After finishing their meal, guests are responsible for washing their own dishes and chopsticks and neatly placing them on the rack.
Currently, the shop only serves vegetarian instant noodles and is open from 7 AM to 6 PM. Customers serve themselves: the broth is always provided. Side dishes such as tofu, vegetarian patties, and bean sprouts are also available. After the meal, customers clean up and wash their own dishes, fostering a sense of community.
Ms. Dang My Xuyen, a seafood worker in Nam Can commune, said emotionally: "The deliciousness of the noodle soup isn't just due to the many toppings, but also because it contains the group's affection. This model helps workers and laborers save on living expenses."
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Vu from Quach Pham commune (formerly Dam Doi district) is eating at the restaurant for the third time.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Vu from Quach Pham commune shared: “I specialize in buying used phones in various communes, so I often eat at restaurants. Normally, a bowl of vermicelli costs around 25-30 thousand dong. One time, while passing through Nam Can commune, I learned about a vegetarian noodle shop that sold noodles for 1,000 dong, so I stopped to eat. This model of the group is very meaningful to everyone, especially those who make a living by moving from place to place like me.”
When asked what the group received in return, Ms. Cam smiled and said, "We received smiles from the local people. We are happy because our long-held dream has finally come true. In the future, the group will expand the shop so that it's more convenient for people to visit."
More than just an eatery, "The 1,000 VND Vegetarian Noodle Shop" is a meeting place for human connection, where people find not only affordable food but also empathy and love. It is these small things that contribute to making life lighter, more humane, and more meaningful.
