After the "Red Devils" failed to qualify for the Champions League, the Portuguese strategist admitted that the club's budget would be tightened by financial fair play regulations and a lack of revenue from the European arena.
"We are not allowed to go on a shopping spree this summer, even with the Champions League, so the coaching staff are prepared for that," Amorim said.
Despite continuing to pursue transfer targets such as Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap, Amorim insists his main focus will be on improving the existing squad and developing young talent from the academy. He believes that not participating in European competition can give him an advantage in terms of tactical and physical preparation for the new season.
“Not having the Champions League means we don’t need a big squad. We can control the squad better and focus on long-term development,” the Portuguese added.

Amorim is renowned for his work developing young players at Sporting Lisbon and Braga, but he has also stressed the need to manage the pressure and expectations placed on young talent at a club as big as Manchester United, suggesting that the constant grind of the likes of Kobbie Mainoo from an early age is something to learn from.
In addition to his rebuilding plans, Amorim is also leading the Red Devils on their post-season tour of Asia. Speaking ahead of the clash with the ASEAN All-Stars in Kuala Lumpur, he said: “We need to close the chapter and prepare for the new season. I don’t need a break, I want to get to work straight away.”
Despite Manchester United going through a difficult period, Amorim remains determined and optimistic about rebuilding the team, stressing the importance of taking things one step at a time, rather than setting unrealistic goals in the current climate.
“This is Manchester United, everyone always expects us to reach the top. But I want the team to focus on small steps. Win the first game, then think about the next one," the former Sporting coach emphasized.
