According to Goal , the 40-year-old strategist and his wife Maria are leaving their approximately £1.2 million mansion in Cheshire. This was their home during Amorim's time working in England.
The Daily Mail reports that coach Amorim and his wife plan to return to Portugal in the near future. The Amorim family's villa in England boasts six bedrooms, numerous living spaces, a home theater, a private garden, and a high-end security system.
The decision to leave came just days after Amorim was sacked by MU, ending his 14-month stint at Old Trafford. Prior to that, the Portuguese manager had publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with the "Red Devils" leadership, particularly after the 1-1 draw with Leeds United last week.
It is estimated that MU spent over £27 million on appointing and then sacking Amorim. The "Red Devils" had to pay £9.5 million in contract compensation to Sporting Lisbon to bring the 40-year-old coach to England. At Old Trafford, Amorim received a salary of up to £6.7 million per year.
According to the terms of the contract, the early dismissal obligates MU to pay the remaining salary of the contract, equivalent to £10.05 million, in addition to the £7.8 million Amorim had already received during his tenure.
On the Manchester United bench, Amorim only managed 25 wins in 63 matches, a win rate of 39.7%, the lowest among the Red Devils' official managers since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.
