In fulfilling its socio-economic development tasks, in the first quarter of 2025, the province's main economic indicators maintained high growth rates compared to the same period last year, such as: Industrial production index increased by 10.12%; wholesale and retail sales of goods and services reached over 66,145 billion VND; export turnover reached 301.8 million USD; tourism revenue was estimated at 4,700 billion VND; budget revenue was estimated at 2,695 billion VND, reaching 35.09% of the provincial People's Council's assigned budget, exceeding the average progress of the budget. National and provincial key projects were given attention and directed to accelerate implementation. In particular, the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway project exceeded the overall schedule, and the supply of materials for key transportation projects was focused on resolving issues.

Social welfare and Tet celebrations for the people were carried out promptly, targeting the right beneficiaries, according to regulations, and with innovation. Many cultural, artistic, and sports activities were organized thoughtfully, safely, and practically, creating a joyful atmosphere throughout the province, notably cultural and artistic programs honoring the traditional cultural values of An Giang province. Simultaneously, the province has focused on reorganizing its administrative apparatus according to the planned schedule, reducing 11 district-level police units and 110 subordinate teams in accordance with Project 25-DA/DUCA dated January 11, 2025, of the Central Party Committee of the Ministry of Public Security.
Based on the achievements and the advantages and difficulties encountered in implementing the province's socio-economic development tasks in the first months of the year, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung requested that all sectors and localities uphold a high sense of responsibility in effectively carrying out their tasks. They should focus on implementing the conclusions and resolutions of the Central Party Committee, the Government, and Plan 182/KH-UBND dated February 25, 2025, of the Provincial People's Committee on socio-economic development in 2025. This includes strictly implementing directives on disbursing public investment capital; focusing on removing difficulties for businesses and projects; and promoting administrative reform to best serve the people. They should strengthen inspection and supervision to ensure the progress of planning work, and strictly handle violations related to land management, construction order, and urban aesthetics. At the same time, they should effectively manage land, funds, and public assets. Strengthening the prevention and fight against corruption, waste, and negative practices.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung attended the Rice Harvest Festival as part of the project "Sustainable Development of 1 Million Hectares of High-Quality and Low-Emission Rice Specialization Associated with Green Growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030".
Regarding social welfare, the Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province, Ho Van Mung, requested that all departments, localities, and units complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for people with meritorious services by April 30, 2025, and complete all programs to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses before June 30, 2025. In particular, it is necessary to decisively and effectively implement the policy of streamlining and reorganizing the organizational structure of agencies as directed by the Politburo. The Department of Internal Affairs is tasked with coordinating with relevant agencies and localities to advise the Provincial People's Committee on developing a plan for reorganizing commune-level administrative units, ensuring adherence to the roadmap and suitability to the province's actual needs, for submission to the Provincial Party Standing Committee and competent authorities. Transparency and openness in the operations of these units should be ensured, coupled with democratic practices; inspections and supervision should be strengthened to prevent and combat corruption, waste, negative practices, and vested interests.
