Jonas Vingegaard and his Visma Lease-a-Bike teammates controlled the 133km race from Aosta to Pila well, with five mountain sections, including two Category 1 peaks.
With just over 4km to the finish line, Vingegaard accelerated powerfully, leaving no rivals able to keep up. The Danish rider crossed the finish line alone, taking the lead in the overall standings and claiming the Pink Jersey from Afonso Eulálio with a 2 minute 26 second lead.
Felix Gall of Team CGM finished second in the stage and moved up to third place overall. Stage 15 will take place on a flat course from Voghera to Milano.
