According to Sohu , singer Zhang Liangying recently surprised many by revealing that she had received a penalty from Chinese arts authorities. The pop diva shared that during previous commercial performances and solo concerts, she spontaneously sang many songs a cappella at the request of the audience. These songs, while copyrighted by Zhang Liangying, were not included in the previously registered performance content, leading to the organizers being penalized by the cultural and tourism authorities.
Zhang Liangying regretfully stated that in future commercial events, she will omit the impromptu a cappella singing segments requested by fans. Many viewers regretted this because these impromptu performances were a source of enjoyment for them, showcasing the singer's exceptional vocal talent. However, despite being very accommodating to her fans, Zhang Liangying and her team must adhere to performance management regulations.

Born in 1984 into an ordinary family in Sichuan, Zhang Liangying is proud that her father was a driver and her mother a saleswoman. She loved singing from a young age and was determined to pursue a career in music. Without needing connections, Zhang Liangying entered the music industry through a talent competition called Super Girl.
In 2004, Hunan TV's Super Girl launched its first season. There was no age limit; female contestants from all over could register. The competition results were based on telephone voting. That year, Liang Ying won second place at the age of 20, while the winner was A-list singer Li Yuchun.
Thanks to Super Girl, Liang Ying's career skyrocketed from a young girl, even receiving a nomination for the 52nd Grammy Awards. She also became the first Asian singer to be invited to Oprah Winfrey's famous talk show and the first Asian vocalist to hold an international tour in the United States.
As of 2016, she had released 7 solo albums and had 15 singles that topped the Chinese music charts. In 2016, she also reached the Top 40 of the Billboard charts with her song "Dust My Shoulders Off" .
For Vietnamese audiences, Zhang Liangying is a beloved singer, having performed theme songs for films such as Painted Skin, The Banquet, Together Forever, Kung Fu King , and the legendary song "Tianxia Wushuang" (the theme song from The Condor Heroes ), which she also performed. She has been consistently voted among the most successful stars in the country for many years. In 2025, Zhang Liangying became known to Vietnamese audiences when she served as a judge on the Sing! Asia 2025 competition. However, she caused controversy by repeatedly not voting for Phuong My Chi.

In November 2016, Zhang Liangying married her manager, Feng Ke. Her wedding was attended by many famous artists such as Tang Yan, Liu Yifei, and Li Yifeng. However, this marriage was not well-received by the singer's mother. She believed her daughter was being exploited and, angered by her daughter's situation, refused to attend the wedding.
When faced with her mother's disapproval, Zhang Jingying shared, "If no one else blesses us, we will bless ourselves." Sadly, the couple quietly broke up just a year later.
