Hydra and Lor make an impressive comeback.
On the evening of June 24th, Rap Viet episode 5 of season 3 officially aired, featuring many impressive contestants such as Hydra, Toi, Minh Lai... These are all familiar faces to rap music lovers.
Hydra was praised for its clever and unique reimagining of the song "I Like You a Little Too Much".
Returning to Rap Viet season 3, Hydra revamped Wren Evans' song "Thích em hơi nhiều" (I Like You a Little Too Much) and was immediately chosen by coaches Thai VG and B Ray from the very first seconds. In verse 2, he received support from the remaining two coaches, Andree and BigDaddy. At the end of his performance, he received 96% of the audience vote.
Hydra's performance prompted MC Tran Thanh to exclaim: "You're always so intelligent in your storytelling; your narrative style is so unique. I feel you have a cinematic flair in your work!"
Coach B Ray shared: "From the moment you came out and talked about the storyline beforehand, I felt quite worried because up until now, the storytelling songs have all been a bit dark, most of them not very complete. But when I saw your performance, I felt it was amazing!"
Meanwhile, Thai VG admitted he couldn't understand a single line in Hydra's rap. However, the coach knew Hydra was a formidable rapper with strong lyrics.
Ultimately, Karik, the judge who trained Hydra in Season 1, decided to bring the contestant to Coach Thai VG's team.
In Rap Viet episode 5, season 3, Lor was also a returning contestant after previous seasons with his rap song "National Pride". The panel of 7 judges commented that the contestant was able to convey his entire soul into the song and had shown more restraint compared to season 1.
Minh Lai publicly confessed his love for Liu Grace.
Episode 5 of season 3 of Rap Viet witnessed an explosive performance from contestant Minh Lai. Upon his appearance, JustaTee exclaimed: "I know this guy; his connections in the rap scene are even greater than mine, so I wonder what he's trying to gain from the coaches and judges here."
Minh Lai made a strong impression in Rap Viet episode 5, season 3.
With an impressive choice of theme combined with impressive rap technique, Minh Lai's rap song "Trong Sương" (In the Mist), based on Amee's original song "Yêu thì yêu không yêu thì yêu" (Love or Not Love, Still Love), captivated all four judges and received 78% of the audience vote.
Judge JustaTee shared: "She doesn't need to express too much energy, but everyone can truly feel the energy from her. Honestly, to the professionals, she's number one today!"
BigDaddy continued: "Your song is so explosive, I really like how you use short, concise flows, but you convey the message so effectively. At first, when I read the lyrics, I couldn't imagine it; you're truly so fluid."
Judge JustaTee affirmed: "I've known you since your song reached Top 1 on iTunes. You grasp things that are close to the world using the language of a native speaker. What worries me is how you can use Vietnamese lyrics specifically, because I see you use English more than Vietnamese."
However, today you showed me that my worries have been put aside, and I'm very happy about that!"
Liu Grace cheers on her boyfriend Minh Lai.
Notably, before being announced as being on Andree's team, Minh Lai publicly expressed his feelings for Liu Grace. Liu Grace is one of the rare female contestants in the show and prompted Thai VG and Andree to throw their golden hats in the previous episode.
English teacher becomes a sensation.
Dao Duong Cong Toai (stage name Toi) was also chosen by all four coaches and received 81% of the audience vote in Rap Viet episode 5, season 3. He performed the song "Nhe" (a revamped version of "Bao Tien Mot Mo Binh Yen").
I brought a new energy to the program.
Although an English teacher, Toi surprised everyone with his catchy flow and clever lyrics, incorporating many rhymes (2s and 3s) within a single bar (sentence). After receiving much praise and persuasion from the coaches, Toi was brought to the Thai VG team.
Contestants Umie and Limilxss also won over the audience and coaches B Ray and Big Daddy, safely advancing to the next round, but their performances still had many limitations.
Additionally, episode 5 featured Lil Mikey with a revamped version of "Túy Âm". This contestant received 70% of the audience vote but was not chosen by any of the coaches.
B Ray commented that Lil Mikey performed confidently but the lyrics were rather bland. Meanwhile, according to Karik, Lil Mikey lost points in the way he coordinated the beat and hook. Except for the final seconds, Lil Mikey's entire performance was lackluster.
The two contestants are Umie and Limilxss.
At the end of Rap Viet episode 5 season 3, coach Andree brought in Minh Lai as a contestant, increasing the total number of members in his team to 5.
Coach B Ray successfully recruited the talented and attractive couple Lor and Umie, bringing the total number of members in his team to 7.
Coach Thai VG is also not to be outdone, bringing in two warriors, HYDRA and Tọi, for this week's episode.
Coach BigDaddy increased his team's total to seven members after successfully recruiting magician Limilxss.
