Google has announced an “enhanced process” for installing apps outside the Play Store, expected to roll out in August. Users will need to enable Developer Mode and manually authenticate. After activation, the system requires a device restart and a 24-hour wait before allowing APK file installation. This measure is intended to prevent hackers from manipulating users.
However, in Vietnam, banking security regulations cause applications like VIB, LPBank , and BVBank to automatically lock when Developer Mode is detected. Users will then be unable to conduct transactions. (Image: Genk) This means that during the 24-hour waiting period, your Android phone will be financially "frozen." All payment and transfer functions will be completely interrupted.
If an urgent transaction is needed, users are forced to turn off Developer Mode to restore the banking app. But the price is having to wait 24 hours for the next installation. The solution is to proactively go through the process first, choosing to grant unlimited permission to install APKs. Then, you can disable Developer Mode to put the device into a safe state. Simultaneously, Google introduced a “Limited Distribution Account” that allows students and developers to share experimental applications to up to 20 devices without paperwork.
