Although iPhones are increasingly dominating the high-end smartphone market, many long-time tech users still maintain that Android is the "best" platform thanks to its superior flexibility and customization capabilities that iOS can hardly match. According to the latest survey from SellCell of over 5,000 users in the US, 96.4% of iPhone owners said they would continue to use Apple products for their next upgrade, a record number demonstrating the immense appeal of the iOS ecosystem.
However, on the other hand, Android also recorded a very high loyalty rate, with 86.4% of users wanting to continue using the platform, especially Samsung and Google Pixel enthusiasts who appreciate the open experience and the ability to deeply interact with the system.
One of the biggest reasons many people remain loyal to Android is that Google apps like Gmail, Google Maps, Google Docs, and Gemini work much more naturally and powerfully than on the iPhone, especially in terms of system integration and notification customization.
Unlike iOS, which is known for its "closed garden," Android allows users to change the launcher, install default apps, control notifications and the clipboard, or even automate the entire phone using tools like Tasker—something that iPhones simply cannot do. Another appealing aspect of Android lies in its excellent cross-platform compatibility, allowing users to easily synchronize photos, data, and work between Windows, Android, tablets, or TVs through services like Google Photos without being locked into a separate ecosystem. Meanwhile, many users argue that Apple Photos and iCloud still perform poorly on Windows and are almost "useless" on Android, making data transfer between platforms much more complicated than the open experience Google provides.
While iPhones are still highly regarded for their stability, performance, and integrated ecosystem, Android continues to hold strong appeal for those who value freedom, personalization, and want to utilize smartphones in the most flexible way possible, rather than being limited by Apple's closed-off philosophy.
