"The Stars" is the theme song for the upcoming game show " Anh trai say hi" (Brother Says Hi). Among the 30 artists featured in the "The Stars" music video, the spotlight is on many notable names in Vietnamese music such as Hieuthuhai, Duc Phuc, Erik, and Isaac.

JustaTee served as the music producer for the song "The Stars ." The track is nearly 5 minutes long, but that was still too short for JustaTee to give space to all 30 artists. Instead, only a few names like Isaac, Duc Phuc, Erik, rapper Tage, Hurrykng, Wean Le, and Hieuthuhai contributed their vocals.

Chaotic

The distinct, mixed-up styles of singing and rapping are incompatible in The Stars' product. Even casual listeners have pointed this out, as the production team showed great ambition but in reality, the result was a chaotic mess.

Isaac was the first to sing in The Stars . The former 365 member's voice was unusual and somewhat rough due to a completely different mixing compared to his previous musical works. After Isaac, Duc Phuc followed, then Erik, whose melody became more fluid and pleasant to the ear, leading up to the song's highlight hook.

In the next section, JustaTee arranged a group of rappers. Tage, Wean Lê, Pháp Kiều, Hurrykng, Negav, and Hieuthuhai successively performed short rap verses with rebellious and individualistic content. However, the problem with rap is that each rapper has their own flow and way of conveying their message, so if the rap verses are placed next to each other without a connection, everything becomes confusing.

Overall, the rap part of the song doesn't quite blend with the vocals of the group in the opening section. The most outstanding aspect of The Stars is actually JustaTee's voice, as the show's music director participates in the hook segment.

A year ago, JustaTee was behind the production of the song "We Go Hard" for Rap Viet Season 3. The theme song for Rap Viet Season 3 also featured a lineup of artists, including Suboi, Thai VG, B Ray, Karik, BigDaddy, Andree, and JustaTee. However, "We Go Hard" was a platform solely for rap, truly a cypher. In contrast, at The Stars , JustaTee struggled to balance the lineup with half singers and the other half rappers.

From Rap Viet to Anh trai say hi , JustaTee's role remains that of Music Director, but the challenge in this show is completely different. The negative reaction from the audience towards The Stars is a challenging start for the person "steering" the show's music segment.

Looking ahead, JustaTee and his collaborators still have many challenges to solve as they assemble the various pieces to create a complete whole.

Eye-catching images

Phuong Vu of Antiantiart served as the creative director for the music video "The Stars" . Following his success with Bich Phuong and a series of other projects, Phuong Vu has made rapid progress to become one of the most sought-after music video directors of 2024. Phuong Vu's strengths – his creative madness, street style, and hip hop – are all showcased in the music video "The Stars" .

The production team created a series of spectacular settings for the music video "The Stars ." The most impressive was the set capturing all 30 members, with Tage sitting in a mysterious room. The music video was filmed entirely in a studio, with half of it in real-life locations and the other half processed in post-production. The color and special effects in " The Stars" are high quality. The only drawback is the overly fast scene transitions.

Similar to the music, the visuals in The Stars music video also limit the number of artists appearing. Singers and rappers who contributed vocals are given more screen time. Meanwhile, the rest of the show's notable artists, such as Quang Hung, Anh Tu (actor), Song Luan, Quang Anh, etc., only appear for a few seconds.

After two days of release, the music video for "The Stars" garnered over 300,000 views. The presence of the "30 guys" in the MV, theoretically promising a huge hit, didn't actually generate much buzz. While the visuals of "The Stars" might be impressive, if the music isn't compelling, it will be difficult for it to become a true hit on the trending charts.

The game show "Brother Says Hi" aired at the same time as "Brother Overcomes a Thousand Obstacles" . Compared to its competitor, "Brother Says Hi" had a better start, as most of the participating artists were already popular on social media. Investing in producing a spectacular music video and releasing it early also helped "Brother Says Hi" create more buzz than its direct competitor.

However, whether "Brother Says Hi" will succeed depends on how the show utilizes the 30 artists. Those 30 names, each individual might be popular, but whether they can support each other's rise to success together is questionable. At least, with the MV "The Stars," the show's team showed viewers that things are still chaotic.
