Both AC Milan and Barcelona fielded nearly their strongest lineups in the friendly match held in Las Vegas, USA, on August 2nd.
Both teams started strongly, but Barcelona created the first dangerous opportunity in the 12th minute when Kounde's shot from outside the penalty area unfortunately hit the post and went wide.
AC Milan responded with some beautiful attacking moves, but the lack of accuracy in the final touches from Reijnders and Leao when facing goalkeeper Pena in the 18th and 44th minutes meant the Serie A side still couldn't find the goal they needed.
In the second half, Ansu Fati, once considered a "prodigy" of Spanish football, produced a spectacular solo run down the left wing in the 55th minute, before penetrating the penalty area and unleashing a superb shot that beat goalkeeper Maignan to open the scoring for Barcelona.
The goal forced AC Milan to push forward in attack to find an equalizer, giving Barcelona opportunities to launch several sharp counter-attacks.
Unfortunately, the Catalan team couldn't score another goal, but they still managed to secure a narrow 1-0 victory against AC Milan until the end of the match.
This victory helped Barcelona end their US tour with two wins and one loss (a loss to Arsenal and wins against Real Madrid and AC Milan), while AC Milan returned to Italy after a defeat against Real Madrid and a draw with Juventus.
Barcelona will begin their new La Liga season on August 13th away at Getafe, while AC Milan will have to wait another week for their Serie A opening match against Bologna on August 21st.
