The Apple Vision Pro starts at $3,499 and will officially go on sale in the US on February 2nd. This is Apple's first new product line since the Apple Watch in 2015. However, Wall Street doesn't expect the company to sell as many Vision Pro units as other products like the iPhone, Apple Watch, or Mac.
“We believe Vision Pro’s success in 2024 will not be significant and has more long-term potential,” Morgan Stanley analyst Erik Woodring wrote in a note to investors in December 2023.
Meanwhile, UBS analyst David Vogt estimates Apple will generate approximately $1.4 billion in revenue from Vision Pro in 2024, assuming the company ships around 400,000 devices. For comparison, in the third quarter of 2023, iPhones contributed $43.81 billion to Apple's revenue.
The lowest-priced Vision Pro model uses 256GB of storage and an M2 chip. There are also 512GB versions priced at $3,699 and 1TB versions priced at $3,899. The headset offers a “spatial computing” experience, serving as a virtual reality display for people to watch movies or “pin” various applications to view while still observing the real world .
Apple's pre-order website requires customers to have an iPhone or iPad with Face ID to find the right size. In addition to the option of paying upfront, the company also offers a 12-month installment plan.
Vision Pro was announced by Apple at WWDC 2023.
