Apple is trying to persuade users to ditch their iPhone cases.

Apple's advertisements are always meticulously crafted, and the latest promotional clip for the iPhone 16 continues that style. Appearing on YouTube, the 35-second video , filmed at an amusement park, focuses on showcasing the new generation Ceramic Shield coating.

The clip shows a father handing his iPhone 16 to a passerby to take a family photo, but the phone unexpectedly falls to the ground. Luckily, the device remains intact without a scratch, much to the viewers' relief.

Ceramic Shield is a type of screen glass manufactured by Corning, which Apple has used since the iPhone 12 series. With the iPhone 16, Apple claims that the new Ceramic Shield version is 50% harder than before, significantly improving its resistance to impacts and scratches in real-world use.

Through advertising, Apple subtly encourages users to trust in the device's ability to protect itself without needing an additional protective case – a message intended to emphasize innovation in materials and product durability.

However, many technology experts and end-users still express caution. Although Ceramic Shield is more impact-resistant than traditional glass, glass is still inherently fragile and easily broken under strong impact or when struck against sharp surfaces.

An improperly angled fall, such as hitting the edge of the phone, can still cause serious cracks. In fact, on tech forums, users are constantly reporting that iPhone 16 screens have cracked after drops from moderate heights.

Furthermore, it's undeniable that iPhones, especially newer models with their sleek designs, are still quite easy to slip from a user's hand during use. Environmental conditions such as rain, sweaty hands, or quick actions all increase the risk of dropping them. Data loss, high repair costs, or a compromised user experience are significant costs that users will pay if they are careless about protecting their devices.

Therefore, even though the iPhone 16 has made significant strides in durability, many experts still recommend using an additional case or tempered glass screen protector for optimal protection of this device, which costs tens of millions of Vietnamese dong. A good protective solution will not only keep the iPhone 16 looking good over time but also give users more peace of mind during daily use, avoiding unnecessary damage.
