Mũi Cà Mau is a coastal commune, surrounded by the sea on three sides, making it the only place in Vietnam with views of both the East and West Seas. It borders Viên An commune to the north, boasts a 34 km long coastline, and is located 40 km from the district center. The commune was recognized as a Type V urban area in 2021. It has a natural area of 14,721.69 hectares, divided into 11 hamlets, with 3,422 households and over 13,134 inhabitants.

Mr. Vo Cong Truong, Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune, said: "Since embarking on the National Target Program for building new rural areas, over the past 10 years, the locality has faced countless difficulties and challenges, from natural conditions to limitations in infrastructure and people's lives. However, it is precisely in these hardships that the flame of unity and high determination of the entire political system has been ignited, along with the solidarity and joint efforts of each citizen to build the Ca Mau Peninsula into an increasingly beautiful place."

Ms. Nguyen Hue Tuoi, from Kinh Dao hamlet, said: “When the policy of building a new rural commune was announced, we people were very supportive and determined to work hard to implement the criteria such as: maintaining hygiene around our houses; utilizing water surface areas for shrimp and crab farming, applying techniques to achieve high productivity and increase income...”.

To date, Dat Mui commune has undergone a significant transformation. The road to the commune center has been completely paved, facilitating trade and transportation for the people. More than 91% of inter-hamlet roads have been hardened. In parallel with the road network, the national power grid has been extended to every household, reaching 99.5% of households with access to safe electricity, thus improving the quality of life and production.

Mr. Ta Quoc Trung, from Khai Long hamlet, believes that not only transportation, electricity, and water infrastructure, but also cultural and educational institutions have received comprehensive attention. These changes are evident in every project and every statistic, reflecting the people's satisfaction with the new rural development of Ca Mau Peninsula today.

Possessing a special appeal stemming from its sacred geographical location and unique ecosystem, Ca Mau Cape is gradually asserting its position as an unmissable destination on the Vietnamese tourism map. With two key tourist areas, Ca Mau Cape welcomes over 150,000 visitors annually for sightseeing and experiences.

Among them, the Ca Mau Cape National Tourist Area is a convergence of iconic structures bearing the strong imprint of history and culture. Stepping foot here, visitors cannot help but feel moved when standing before the National GPS Coordinate Marker 0001 - a sacred marker of sovereignty; or the Ho Chi Minh Trail marker - the final point of the legendary road; the symbolic image of a ship proudly sailing out to sea, representing the nation's aspiration for progress; the Lac Long Quan Temple and the majestic statue of Mother Au Co reminding us of our national origins. Another significant highlight is the Hanoi Flagpole standing tall in the southern sky, a symbol of national unity.

Besides its unique architectural structures, the rich mangrove ecosystem, with its vast expanse of mangrove forests and winding canals, is the unmistakable "specialty" of Ca Mau Cape tourism. Mr. Quach Van Ngai, from Con Mui hamlet, enthusiastically remarked: "Imagine a pristine morning, watching the sun slowly rise from the sea, painting a vast area pink; or when the sun sets, the twilight casts a golden glow on the deep green mangrove forests, creating a majestic and romantic natural landscape."

With 11 effectively operating cooperatives, the close link between production and consumption not only creates a sustainable value chain but also helps local agricultural products have a stable market, minimizing risks for the people. The results in 2024 are clearly demonstrated by the average per capita income reaching 64.42 million VND, along with a sharp decrease in the poverty rate to 1.11%, the lowest in the entire district – evidence of the comprehensive and sustainable development of the commune.

Mr. Tang Thien Tinh, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, affirmed: "Building Dat Mui commune to meet the standards of a New Rural Area is not only the result of faith and aspirations, but also a solid stepping stone to overcome challenges and seize development opportunities from important national-level projects invested in the commune such as the Dat Mui - Ca Mau expressway and Hon Khoai deep-water port, enabling Dat Mui to rise and create new momentum in various fields. Dat Mui, known as 'the land that blossoms, the forest that moves,' is standing at the threshold of a promising era of economic development."

On June 3rd, Mr. Le Van Su, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the implementation of national target programs in the province, and Chairman of the Appraisal Council, reviewed and approved the recognition of Dat Mui commune (Ngoc Hien district) as a New Rural Area in 2024. The result showed that 19 out of 20 members present (95%) agreed. According to regulations, Dat Mui commune meets the conditions for recognition as a New Rural Area.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to urgently coordinate with the Ngoc Hien District People's Committee to complete the dossier and procedures in accordance with regulations, and submit it to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and recognition.
