White Fire - The War Against Drug Crime
After its first four episodes aired, "White Fire ," a new high-quality mini-series produced by the Television Film Center of Vietnam Television, has attracted significant attention from viewers during prime time on VTV3. The series explores the fight against drugs in a modern context, where crime is increasingly sophisticated and infiltrates various aspects of life. With its crime investigation and mystery elements, the series continues to demonstrate the appeal of in-depth, dramatic films on television.
While previously, images of drug crime were often associated with raids in border regions or complex hotspots, in "White Fire," the danger appears right in the familiar spaces of young people: entertainment activities, social media environments, and seemingly harmless relationships. This approach gives the film a contemporary feel and creates a clear social warning.
The film also places weight on its villainous characters. Each role has its own life and its own set of events, requiring actors to delve deeply into the characters' psychology rather than just making an impression with their appearance. Meritorious Artist Ho Phong shared: "In VFC's new project called ' White Fire ,' I am very honored to be invited to play a role named Lao Cong. This is a role I really enjoy because it's a character with a very complicated inner life, full of ups and downs. This is a very challenging role."
With expert advice from anti-drug forces, "White Fire" realistically portrays the dangerous nature of these cases. Behind the dramatic scenes on screen lies an effort to depict, to some extent, the tension and danger of the real-life battle.
Actor Bao Anh expressed: "I only thought one thing: I am a police officer, and a police officer will certainly not back down in the face of any danger. That moment of danger only lasts a few minutes in the film. But for police officers, especially those on the front lines of the fight against drug trafficking, those moments happen every day, every minute, every hour, and last for many years in their lives."
With its fast pace and multi-layered characters, White Fire transcends the boundaries of a simple crime drama, raising numerous questions about trust, betrayal, family ties, love, and the price of life's choices.
On the other side of the city, the topic of school violence is being touched upon.
Airing on VTV1 up to episode 22, "The Other Side of the City" is becoming increasingly captivating with its escalating plot. The series explores themes of school violence, academic pressure, and teenage trauma. Through this, the film guides viewers towards humanistic and educational values via the journey of redemption undertaken by the two main characters – childhood best friends: Cuong (played by Vo Hoai Vu) and Khue (played by Thai Vu). While Cuong is rebellious, playful, and lazy in his studies, he is incredibly righteous and always ready to protect his friends. Khue, on the other hand, is the school's "math star" but shy and introverted. These two seemingly opposite individuals rely on each other like siblings, compensating for each other's shortcomings on their journey to adulthood. The peaceful and stable world of Cuong and Khue begins to crumble when Tuyet Lan, a new girl who transferred from "the other side of the city," appears. Then, after a major event, Cuong and Khue's lives officially took two completely different paths.
The storytelling in "The Other Side of the City" by directors Vu Truong Khoa and Dao Duy Phuc is not confined to the school campus but places the story of young people in close relation to their families. Alongside a beautiful and touching story of friendship, there is also the warm and forgiving love of mothers as they understand, love, and protect their children. Despite touching on sensitive issues, "The Other Side of the City" aims for humanistic values through the protagonists' journey towards goodness.
The film "The Other Side of the City" marks the leading roles of young actors Vo Hoai Vu and Thai Vu, along with promising child actress Ali Thuc Phuong. The film also features actors Khanh Linh, Huyen Sam, Minh Tiep, Thuy Duong, and others.
The series "The Other Side of the City" airs at 9:00 PM from Monday to Friday every week on VTV1, starting from May 27th.

The series, which has aired 19 episodes, evokes many emotions about people born and raised in an old apartment complex. Set in a dilapidated complex awaiting demolition, " Under the Bright Window" opens up a space that is both nostalgic and turbulent, depicting people struggling with making ends meet, family, and unfulfilled dreams. The series revolves around the story of Sinh (played by Quang Sự) - a responsible, principled, and honorable single father - and his younger sister Vân and close friends Tài, Bằng, Diệu, and Nguyệt in the old apartment complex. They are bonded like a family.
A series of misfortunes befall Sinh and his friends, turning their once peaceful lives upside down. While Sinh steadfastly upholds his values and silently protects his loved ones, Dieu (played by Quynh Chau), a businesswoman, faces a harsh choice between her career and family happiness. Alongside this are the poignant life stories of Tai, a dutiful son; Nguyet, a former "beauty icon"; and Bang, a somewhat eccentric man who lives life to the fullest with his friends…
Director Trinh Le Phong stated that " Under the Brightly Lighted Window" is like a microcosm of society, where viewers will see everyday life depicted in the film. What remains is the affection for family, friends, and the relationships between people.
Under the brightly lit window, the film touches upon the issues of everyday life: economic crisis, debt, business ethics, marital breakdown, loneliness within one's own family… However, the film chooses a very positive perspective, presenting a story of life where people do not surrender to adversity but learn to rise, heal, and continue living. The events and unexpected twists of fate are both surprising and natural. The clashes in personality, behavior, and circumstances of Sinh and Dieu, Tai and Nguyet, or Van and Bang all contribute to a meaningful story. There are no perfect characters in the film; everyone has mistakes and hidden flaws, but it is precisely this that creates deep empathy with the audience.
The communal living space, with its always-lit windows, has become a recurring symbol: a place that witnesses all joys and sorrows, where people who were once strangers become each other's support system. This is also the element that creates a very unique "life," deeply imbued with Vietnamese culture.
Under the Bright Window will air at 8:00 PM every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday on VTV3, starting May 18th.
