Today, April 3rd, the Ministry of Health announced the decision to recognize Associate Professor Phan Thi Thu Huong as the new chair of the Hanoi Medical University's council, replacing Professor Ta Thanh Van, who is retiring.
According to information from Hanoi Medical University, Ms. Huong graduated from the university in 1995, earned a master's degree in Belgium in 2004, and received her doctorate in public health in 2013. She was appointed Associate Professor in 2017.
With over 30 years of experience in the healthcare field, Associate Professor Huong has also made significant contributions to the implementation of HIV/AIDS prevention programs. She is a member of the team that developed the World Health Organization's guidelines on PrEP (HIV prevention treatment).
At the same time, HIV/AIDS prevention programs have also been effective, such as reducing mother-to-child HIV transmission from 30% to below 1.9%, and decreasing the number of new HIV infections by 60% compared to 2010...
At the announcement ceremony, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan assessed Hanoi Medical University as a leading training and scientific research institution in the field, with 123 years of history. Currently, the university-hospital model (with Hanoi Medical University including Hanoi Medical University Hospital) is developing well, enjoying high prestige, and meeting the healthcare needs of the people.
Looking ahead, Ms. Lan stated that the university's development plan until 2030, with a vision to 2050, expected to be approved by the Government this month, will aim to build Hanoi Medical University into a key national higher education institution, playing a leading role among health-related schools.
