Therefore, the task of journalists is important and glorious," over the years, revolutionary journalists, the soldiers on the ideological and cultural front in Dong Thap, have always placed responsibility and professional ethics at the forefront.
Faced with the demands of the new era, every journalist must constantly innovate, enhance their sense of responsibility, and maintain firm political principles to contribute to the prosperous development of the province.
"A NOBLE AND SACRED PROFESSION"
During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh taught that: "The duty of the press is to serve the people and the revolution." To journalists, President Ho Chi Minh repeatedly advised: "Your pens are also sharp weapons in the cause of upholding justice and eliminating evil," and "journalists are also revolutionary soldiers."
"The pen and paper are their sharpest weapons." He affirmed: "The task of a journalist is important and glorious."
To successfully accomplish that task, one must strive to study politics, raise one's ideological level, and firmly stand on the proletarian class standpoint; one must improve one's cultural level and delve deeply into one's professional work. One must always strive, and with striving, success is certain.”
Continuing in that spirit, the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, a shining example of humility, integrity, and exemplary conduct, also emphasized: "Journalism is a noble and sacred profession."
Revolutionary journalists must possess a proactive spirit, bravely fighting to eliminate what is wrong and bad, and protecting what is right and good for the common cause of the country and the people.
The legacy passed down from previous generations is the driving force that enables today's journalists to maintain their political integrity on the ideological and cultural front.
In Dong Thap province, studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh has become a central and continuous task for the team of journalists.
In today's era of information explosion, where "true" and "false" are mixed together on the internet, the role of the Party's press agencies becomes even more important.
This is not only the voice of the Party Committee and the government, but also a trusted forum for the people, helping them verify information and seek proper guidance.
The team of journalists is always deeply aware of their responsibilities, striving to convey the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations to the people accurately and promptly; at the same time, helping the press become a "bridge" connecting the Party's will and the people's hearts.
SHAPING CONVERGENT JOURNALISM
To meet the demands of modern revolutionary journalism, a historical turning point occurred on July 24, 2025, when Dong Thap Newspaper and Radio and Television were established through the merger of four media agencies from the former Tien Giang and Dong Thap provinces.
From August 1st, 2025, the merged agency will officially launch its new look on various platforms, marking a significant step in streamlining its structure and building a converged multimedia journalism model.
This convergence creates a comprehensive journalistic ecosystem encompassing print, broadcast, and digital environments, maximizing public reach across multiple platforms.

The emergence of the new look is not just a procedural result, but also a testament to the persistent and continuous efforts of the entire staff and employees of Dong Thap Newspaper and Radio and Television.
Prior to the merger, the predecessor agencies were always pioneers on the ideological and cultural front, closely adhering to political tasks and vividly and richly reflecting the "spirit" of local life.
When embarking on the merger process, facing countless difficulties and unfamiliarity with the new organizational structure and operating methods, that sense of responsibility shone even brighter.
The editorial team demonstrated a strong spirit of solidarity and proactively overcame all obstacles to ensure the smooth flow of official information.
Regardless of the circumstances, the unit has consistently performed well as an extension of the Party Committee and the government, promptly and accurately conveying all policies, guidelines, laws, and strategic directions from the Central Government and the province to the people.
This tireless commitment once again affirms the position and principles of the provincial press agency: not only the voice of the Party Committee and the government, but also a truly reliable information "filter," a solid ideological pillar contributing to social consensus and promoting strong local socio-economic development.
Looking at the overall picture after the merger, the flow of information is robust and synchronized across all platforms. On television, the two main channels, THĐT1 and Miền Tây - THĐT2, were reorganized from three predecessor channels: THĐT1, Miền Tây - THĐT2, and THTG, ensuring wide coverage from traditional infrastructure to modern digital platforms.
Channel THĐT1 plays a vital role in serving political and economic objectives, while the Mekong Delta - THĐT2 channel embodies the rich cultural identity of the riverine region.
Dong Thap Radio continues to maintain and expand its coverage on two frequencies, 96.2 MHz and 98.4 MHz, with rich integrated content. For the print newspaper, the new masthead is a subtle blend of the traditional font and colors of Ap Bac Newspaper and the name Dong Thap Newspaper, increasing from 12 pages to 16 pages with more in-depth articles and series to serve readers regularly.
In addition, the online newspaper continuously updates breaking news, combined with a digital ecosystem of over 20 channels on social media platforms, attracting over 12.7 million followers and over 2.7 billion views, and is highly regarded for its communication effectiveness, brand recognition, and information dissemination.
Despite facing many unfamiliar situations and difficulties in the initial period of consolidation, the leadership, officials, and employees of the unit demonstrated a strong spirit of solidarity and responsibility to maintain the flow of information.
In September 2025, after nearly two months of operation, the Dong Thap Newspaper and Radio and Television Station, under the leadership of the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hai Tram (currently the Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court), highly appreciated this effort, affirming that the unit had ensured the smooth operation of its machinery, demonstrating its revolutionary spirit and pioneering role, serving as a pillar of ideology, and contributing to high levels of social consensus.
Speaking at the ceremony to launch the new look of the merged press agency, Comrade Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen, Member of the Standing Committee and Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Provincial Party Committee, extended congratulations and set very specific expectations and requirements for the unit's new journey.
He emphasized: With this new interface, media agencies must have newer programs, content, and requirements to meet the increasingly high demands of the people for cultural and spiritual enjoyment and access to information.
In this new phase of development, it is suggested that the staff, reporters, and editors pay special attention to speed, accuracy, innovation, and a sense of responsibility; the unit should continue to build on its solid foundation to enhance its brand reputation, always deeply understanding that journalism is a sharp ideological and cultural weapon of the Party and the People.
In particular, the press must do a good job of engaging with the public on its own platforms, becoming a forum for people to express their thoughts and aspirations and contribute their voices to the overall development of the province.
