JOINING FORCES AND WORKING TOGETHER TO BUILD THE BORDER REGION

Located in the Hung Phuoc border area of Bu Dop district, bordering Cambodia, the Hoang Dieu Border Gate Border Guard Post is not only a force firmly protecting national sovereignty and border security, but also a reliable support for the local ethnic communities. For over 50 years of development and growth, generations of officers and soldiers of the Hoang Dieu Border Gate Border Guard Post have continued the tradition, affirming their irreplaceable role in the people's support at the nation's frontier.

Leaders, officers, and soldiers of the Hoang Dieu Border Gate Border Guard Station visit the construction site of a house for Mr. Hua Van Sang's family (fourth from the left), Hung Phuoc commune.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Huu Long, Political Officer of the Hoang Dieu Border Gate Border Guard Station, shared: “In addition to the task of firmly protecting national territorial sovereignty and border security, the unit also actively cooperates with local Party committees and authorities to help people reduce poverty through specific models and activities. It is through these practical actions that the people in the area have joined the border guards in the cause of protecting the border.”

With the motto "The people remember us when we leave, and cherish us when we stay," the image of soldiers in green uniforms standing side-by-side with the people, living for the people, has become familiar. In the border region of Hung Phuoc, border guards are not afraid of difficulties and hardships, staying close to the people and the local area, encouraging people to abide by the law, and working together to build an increasingly strong border.

The family of Mr. Lang Sau (far right) received support from officers and soldiers of the Hoang Dieu Border Gate Border Guard Station in digging a well, improving their water supply for daily life and production.

Mr. Lang Sau, residing in Hamlet 3, Hung Phuoc Commune, emotionally shared: “My family is struggling financially, and we received support from the officers and soldiers of the Hoang Dieu Border Gate Border Guard Post in digging a well and treating our eyes. Whenever we need anything, the soldiers are there immediately. The soldiers are like family.”

Not only Mr. Lang Sau, but many households in Hung Phuoc commune have received practical support from the officers and soldiers of the border guard station. For the people here, the officers and soldiers of the station are not only functional forces but also like family members who always care, share, and accompany them in life.

Beyond providing immediate support, the Hoang Dieu Border Gate Border Guard Station has implemented many sustainable welfare models such as: "Adopted Children of the Border Guard Station," "Rice Jar of Compassion," "Border House," providing breeding cattle, and guiding people in production techniques…

Social welfare programs such as "Adopted Children of Border Guard Posts," "Charity Rice Jar," and support for breeding cattle have contributed to helping people escape poverty.

To date, the unit has mobilized resources to build and hand over many charitable houses to poor households and ethnic minorities. Livelihood support models have also yielded practical results. For example, the family of Mr. Hua Van Sang in Hamlet 4, thanks to the 100 million VND support from the officers and soldiers of the outpost and benefactors, now has a solid house after many years living in temporary shelters. “Since having a house, I have the motivation to work hard and rise out of poverty. My family is very grateful for the kindness of the soldiers,” Mr. Sang shared.

In addition to material support, border guard officers regularly guide local people on farming and livestock raising methods suitable to local conditions, helping them improve productivity and stabilize their economy . Mr. Hoang Thanh Thiep, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Phuoc commune, commented: “The coordination between the border guard force and the local government has created many positive changes. Livelihood support and social welfare programs have contributed to helping people escape poverty and stabilize their lives.”

BUILDING A NATIONAL BORDER DEFENSE FORCE

Every citizen of Hung Phuoc understands their role and responsibility in protecting their "home turf." From reporting crimes and preventing illegal border crossings to actively participating in patrols to protect border markers, each citizen is the "eyes and ears" of the functional forces on the front lines of maintaining security and order. This deep bond between the military and the people is the foundation for building a comprehensive border defense system, where each citizen becomes a "soldier" protecting the border with love for their homeland, a spirit of solidarity, and community responsibility.

The soldiers are always present when the people face difficulties, demonstrating the close bond between the military and the people in the border region.

Given its unique characteristics as a border area, maintaining territorial sovereignty is inseparable from the strength of the people's will. Deeply aware of this, the officers and soldiers of the Hoang Dieu Border Gate Border Guard Post always prioritize the people, relying on their consensus as their foundation. Through concrete and practical actions such as helping people dig wells, build houses, and support their livelihoods, the bond between the military and the people is strengthened. This close, inseparable bond is the solid foundation for promoting the proactive role of the people in border protection. This is the decisive factor in building a strong all-people border defense posture and safeguarding the nation's borders in the new situation.
