The long-awaited World Esports Championship 2023 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, part of the International Esports Federation (IESF), finally kicked off today in Romania, where 16 international Mobile Legends: Bang Bang teams will compete for the top spot and a total prize pool of $100,000. This is also the highest-level international Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament organized by the IESF!
The group stage will be played in a round-robin format from today, June 28th, until August 30th. Participating Mobile Legends: Bang Bang teams will be divided into four groups, where they will compete against each other in a best-of-three (BO3) format. The top two teams from each group will then advance to the knockout stage, which will be held from August 31st to September 3rd. The two teams that reach the finals will compete on the main stage in a best-of-five (BO5) format.
Ray Ng, Director of Esports Ecosystem at Moonton Games, the publisher and developer of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, said: "We are proud to be part of the global esports family brought together by the IESF committee to celebrate competitive gaming. This tournament showcases the tireless efforts of our partners and athletes. We expect many surprises from the winning team."
The teams participating in this year's Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Championship come from 16 countries and territories, including: Romania, Indonesia, the United States, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Senegal, Namibia, Ukraine, Turkey, Georgia, the Philippines, Mongolia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kazakhstan, and Saudi Arabia.

In Vietnam, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is published by VNG Games. This game also helped the esports team win medals at the 19th, 21st, and 23rd SEA Games. At the 15th World Championship in Romania, the Vietnamese team did not qualify for the finals, finishing last in Group B after losing to the other two teams in the group, the Philippines and Myanmar. The Philippines team then secured the only qualifying spot from Southeast Asia and Oceania to represent Southeast Asia in the finals. The other representative from Southeast Asia in this tournament was the Indonesian team, who qualified for the finals as the defending champions of the 2022 tournament.
