This not only expands public access but also raises new issues regarding copyright and the economic value of journalistic content.
One content, multiple platforms
In the morning, Mr. Van Quoc Hoang (Hai Duong ward) opened his phone to read economic news on online newspapers. At noon, he continued to listen to the podcast version of the same content while driving home.
The public's approach to information is changing rapidly. A journalistic work no longer exists in a single format but is transformed into multiple products tailored to different groups of readers, viewers, and listeners.
Following the restructuring and streamlining of its organizational structure, local media outlets operate print, online, television, and radio simultaneously under a converged newsroom model. In Hai Phong , information from the field can become a breaking news story on an online newspaper, an in-depth article in a print newspaper, a television report, a radio program, a podcast, or content on social media.
Journalist Vo Hoang Long, Deputy Head of the Editorial Department of VietnamPlus online newspaper (Vietnam News Agency), commented: "Previously, a news article mainly served a specific group of the public, but now the same product can reach tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of people across many different platforms."
This shift has also changed the way we view the value of journalistic products. Previously, the value of a work was primarily measured by circulation or viewership across different formats; now, content can be simultaneously exploited through online newspaper readership, video views, podcast listens, and many other forms of digital content.
This requires media organizations not only to innovate their journalistic practices but also to focus on managing, exploiting, and protecting their content assets. Because behind every product is a process of investing effort and cost, from field reporting, interviews, editing, to video production, sound processing, graphic design, and distribution across multiple platforms.
Mr. Nguyen Tri Cong, Deputy Director of Kien Minh Tam Co., Ltd. (Le Thanh Nghi Ward), believes that amidst the abundance of information on social media, economic and policy news from news agencies remains a reliable source of reference for businesses. "Businesses regularly monitor economic and policy news from news agencies to support their production and business activities," Mr. Cong shared.
Retaining resources for journalism in the digital age.

The rise of Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and many other digital platforms has helped news information spread faster, while also creating a need to protect copyright and the economic value of content.
Recognizing this trend, the 2025 Press Law, effective from July 1, 2026, has added many regulations related to journalistic activities in the digital environment. Notably, the use of journalistic works must comply with intellectual property laws and be carried out on the basis of agreement with the media organization. The law also adds regulations on leading multimedia media organizations, the national digital media platform, and the exploitation and use of journalistic works in the new context.
Furthermore, the law expands the mechanisms for generating revenue for media organizations through business and service activities in accordance with legal regulations; selling the right to read, listen to, and watch journalistic content; and exploiting and transferring the right to use journalistic works and digital content products. This is expected to be an important resource for media organizations to continue investing in their professional activities.
With traditional advertising revenue shifting towards digital platforms, diversifying revenue streams has become essential. Effectively leveraging the value of content is a crucial direction for creating a sustainable development foundation for media organizations.
Mr. Tran Minh Thang, director of a logistics company in Hai Phong, said that his company regularly uses official sources to update on policies and market conditions. According to Mr. Thang, producing a short news report or an in-depth analysis is a long and laborious process. Therefore, protecting the value of content also means creating conditions for the press to continue investing in quality products.
In the digital age, journalism competes not only on speed but also on the quality and reliability of information. Content continues to be the foundation of journalistic strength in this multi-platform era. Protecting copyright, effectively utilizing content products, and creating resources for journalistic activities are not only development requirements for each media organization but also contribute to building a healthy information environment that better meets the needs of the public.
